Motorcycle Thread - Post it all

But I think I’ll pass on the tail tidy… not keen to be mistaken as a squid at my age. I really don’t give a toss what people think about me these days, so I’ll leave the rear end as it is.
it will functionally keep your back dry and grit-free :)

my swingarm mounted stocko one did not do that well... and big unsprung weight hanging out back..

Well, as bleated about previously, I have been having hip/groin issues when riding my VStrom.

So, what better way can there be to solve that issue than... going full NBD and buying another bike.

Today I picked up a 2020 Suzuki SV650 (gen 3) with 27k on it, very tidy and tight.

I can swing my leg over it easy peasy and on the two rides on it (half an hour and an hour and a half) I have had zero hip/groin pain.

Anyway, let forget about old age ailments, this bike is fun.

It's shorter, lower, lighter and more powerful than Vera VStrom... but with the same awesome engine that pulls like a schoolboy, better brakes and is easier to flick around.

I reckon it needs a little screen, some tweaking of the fork preload (not externally adjustable) and some new bars that are lower, slightly wider and with more downward sweep... all nit picking really.

Early days, but so far I'm glad I sprang for

I love that you went “love the motor, wrong chassis”.
They’re a good thing, i was set to buy one just before I blew a disk out. ADV bikes only for me now but I do have regrets about not having a SV650 in the garage.

At 6’3 I’d be looking pretty funny on it but I like them that much I wouldn’t care.

Yes, I’m a sucker for a 90 degree single crankpin v-twin engine. I’ve owned nine Ducatis, one Moto Guzzi (fricken tractor) and the VStrom… so that's a give away for that.

Perfect primary balance, grunt from low down that builds seamlessly to good amounts of power up high, totally tractable, they don’t ever feel or sound busy or manic, but the note through the right can is primo. I love them.

And yeah, the VStrom is a big bike. It actually handles really well but needs some serious body english to get up it in the tight stuff. The SV on the other hand is way more flickable. Night and day really.

Yeah, I’m only 5’11” and it feels small for me in a good way, so you’d be all over it like a preying mantis.

The bars were doing my head in with my elbows up and way out there… so I was pleased I was able to rotate the bars about 30 degrees towards me, and wonderfully the bike seating position feels very good for me now.

Cool bike.

Finally the Daytona 675 is back on the road. Dropped off tonight to get CELs cleared and new base tune.
I forgot how much fun this thing is to ride. So nimble and is just made for twisty.
No photos to update was having to much fun to take photos
On another note has anyone had custom earplugs made?
If so who did you go with?

Ok, so the Delkevic 350mm oval carbon fibre can (same as my VStrom) arrived yesterday. So I fitted it last night and let the goo go off today.

Very nice... same same as my VStrom. Not too loud but a beautiful very low throbbing note, very Ducati-esque... and I don't feel like I'm riding a water pump anymore.

Plus the bike just lost 2.1kg... and the cf can doesn't get burny like a metal one does.

I took one of the first Gen SV650 bikes for a test ride along with a TL1000R many moons ago. The SV was a much more comfortable and fun bike in my opinion.

I’ve had a megacycle can and also roo racing, not sure if either are still around. At one stage staintune moved to Tassie and traded under another name but all mentioned I haven’t seen on any new bike for years

I have a couple big regrets, buying that F800 isn’t one of them. The look of it has grown on me, kinda like a demented cat that just hangs around and you end up loving it.

Yep for sure… bikes that ride well end up looking cuter than they actually are.

For me, my ugly duckling Ducati Pantah 600, was much better looking after countless adventures across six states.

And yeah, my journo mates had to talk me into the VStrom as it’s no looker. But it’s a great bike and I’ve come around.
