Motorcycle Thread - Post it all

Went to AMX in shellharbour today mid ride with the old man and was plenty surprised, good stock levels, tidy layout (no boot box piles falling over etc) and plenty of decent gear, no derro dudebro’s unlike the other AMX/MCA’s I’ve been too.

It’s a punish but sometimes you just have to get the tape measure out and take a punt online for decent gear.

Will let you guys know how that goes for me when my POD K8 knee braces turn up. Local AMX/MCA had sweet FA in stock for braces.

I’ll support the local when I can but have to buy a lot online.
Out of the list of replacement parts for trumpy build. Things I couldn’t get local were integrated tail light, LED flasher unit and hand grips.

I run pod k4s, good braces. Will come with a couple of different size knee pad foams aswell.
I’d put them as the second best brace I’ve tried. CTI wins but big $$$$

Stuck a little ride in. Roads a bit hectic at the moment but at least got a bit of a blast.

Hopefully you got a few years out of them. I had to retire my favourite gloves (Collin’s leather of all brands). I bought Alpinestar sp8 and don’t get on with them. Knuckle protection rubs on right hand, left is fine. I’ve tried for a week to bed them in but they aren’t going to cut it. The search continues

I’ve managed to put 15hrs into the POD K8 braces and yeah, they fit damn good. Actually made gripping the bike easier and I don’t have any weird pressure points. All I had to do was whack one thicker pad in the left knee and they’re nice and snug. Had reasonably wuick 4th gear tumble down a hill and no damage to my knee or the brace. Quality kit.
They’re actually more comfortable than the leatt Knee bads I was using after a long day riding, the silicone strips on the leatts used to give me blister on the back of my legs, even with knee brace socks. Which is nice because $1k on braces you’d want them to actually be comfy haha.

Also threw on some renthal Fatbar KTM highs onto the bike to replace the low bend Nekens that were on from when there was a steering damper. That was a good move, less back sweep is a winner.

New tall seat from strike incoming, should be delivered tomorrow.

Also threw in some thicker foam into my shoei helmet, not cheap but worth it for a better fit IMO. Just makes the noodle feel abit more snug, no cheek pain even after wearing the MX lid on a 12 hr adv day trip.

New year new mortgage to pay for bike haha. Managed to put 80hours on the thing last year so I figure it’s money well spent.

I "refresh" My Shoei's aboutn once a year or so with new pads and liners (I use them a lot) but even at around $180 the set way cheaper than a new helmet :)

I run a thicker pad in my pods on my right knee. One day I will get another ACL done.
They are good braces.
I’ve fallen in love with road bikes again. I am having an absolute ball on the Daytona. Not suffering to much with back or wrist pain either.
I ended up buying new boots and another set of gloves.
For some reason I can’t get along with my alpinestar sp8s. Right hand rubs at knuckles.
Bought some tcx pro air boots and loving them. For a serious boot they aren’t to bad for movement.
These turned up today.

@Minlak
Yup, cheaper than a new helmet. And it is a year old so easily justified.
I am spewing though, bought the liners off Shoei’s aus website then it ships from a store which is located 10mins from work, which I drive past on my way home every day.

@Scotty675
They might’ve doubled in price since last you bought em but damn that’s a nice box they come in.
Daytona’s are the sickest little bikes, stoked the rebuild was worth it for you.

Mine have a little story too -
October 24 - Went to Kawasaki shop and ordered Cheek Pads in 35 / liner / chin guard
December 24 - Liner and Cheek pads arrive but cheek pads are 39’s take them straight back and they say will order right ones (I have paid for everything now)
January 25 - Hey have you seen the Cheek Pads? - owner glances around says haven’t seen anything yet but it was Christmas
February 25 - Hey have you seen the Cheek Pads yet? - owner glances around says haven’t seen anything yet and does not offer to chase up or anything else
I decide not going back to shop til he calls to let me know they are there and order some for the internet that take 2 days to arrive
January 26 still have not been in the shop still waiting for the cheek pads and chin guard I paid for - still waiting for a call or message to say ready to collect.

Interesting the owner posted at Christmas 25 thanking people for their support and mentions that he let a few people down and promised to do better.

He has missed out in a big service on my Kawasaki bike - 2 sets of tyres for bikes and 3 sales where I helped people buy elsewhere all cause he couldn’t communicate about some $100 cheek pads I have already paid for

Me bitter? ….. Never

Yep, if they don't get it, they don't get it... the business going forward that is.

When we had our mountain bikes nicked, I gave my local MTB shop the $11k worth of business, to buy local and help out the little guy, etc.

After he tried to substitute 4 x SLX chains for what were supposed to be XT chains as if I wouldn't notice, and he magically forgot about the $100 credit I still had owing, and he laughed with his mates in his shop to my face that I'd be riding an ebike soon enough... I haven't been back.

Jesus dude that’s bad. It’s not hard to give the supplier a ring.

I’m loving the new retro bikes that are coming out. That thing looks like a heap of fun.

Phark that is beaut...

Modern bikes for old farts is definitely a thing now, I'm 100% behind it. I took 15 odd years off motorbikes, come back and suddenly manufacturers are pandering to my exact wants.

The xsr is magnificent. Fits me like a glove, smooth linear power delivery with no real peaks, cruise control and other lovely techy gizmos, and those late 80s superbike looks are just

The XSR is a MT09 with character and the MT09 is an amazing motor - this has been a favourite of mine for a while
