Motorcycle Thread - Post it all

The XSR is a MT09 with character and the MT09 is an amazing motor - this has been a favourite of mine for a while
I tried on a few other bikes too and nothing fits like this. The foot position and the way my knees cradle the indentations on the tank make me think they went through my medical records to work out how to build it. The mt01 was my original thought process, and I've always had a soft spot for the z series Kawasaki's, but as soon as I sat on one of these and compared the fit to everything else they were all off the cards really.
And then there was the test ride

New flat seat for this bad boy. 30mm taller than stock and I don’t sink halfway through the foam, much nicer on the legs.
Quite the little machine now, should be good for a few years yet.

A few weeks ago, I vowed to myself, that just zipping down the street on my SS50 with runners on, was not on.

I needed something that was just there, right next to my other shoes, that was really easy to put on... so much so, that I would actually do it, every time.

I picked up these Dryrider Urban 2.0 hi top sneakers. They are CE certified as "protective boots for motorcyclists" and they are really easy to put on with the side zip and feel really comfortable to walk in.

I have been scared for life and will never wear laces on a motorcycle. Still remember incident like it was yesterday. Pulled up to park in car park. Always click neutral before stopping, went to put foot down. Not this time, lace stuck around gear shifter and can’t get foot out. Bike already leaning, no wear to go but on the deck. Foot still stuck, I had to unzip work boot to get out. Very embarrassing and seen by group I was riding with. Luckily it wasn’t at a red light and in an empty car park. Has scared me for life and won’t ride anywhere now without proper boots

I’ve got myself gaerne’s version, I’d be lying if I said I’ve never worn them as normal shoes.

@Scotty675
I tuck the laces in. They’ve never come loose and flapped around on me.

Tbh my only other boots are tech 7’s and I’m not running MX boots an a lil’ jaunt down the road. Im also not buying ADV boots cause they’re a marketing scam that offer sweet FA protection.

Old bikes I love but fuck they piss me off... Just got my 1981 XS1100 running right, carbs finally in sync and running smoothly, now the horns are not working, some earthing issue, also have to fix the front brakes as they aren't engaging 100%, also the right front indicator has an electrical issue... Never ending.

Ha ha, not sure how I missed this. Dimension maybe.

Yes, I can see how that could happen for sure.

Had a similar thing with my old Draggen Kevlar jeans… pulled up, went to put my foot down, they hooked on my footpeg and down I nearly went… I just managed to save it at the last moment.

Doesn’t need to be laces to do it.

I now take care and am cognisant regardless ha ha.

I nearly did it in work pants aswell but I was only a kid and didn’t give it another thought. Really easy to do.
It’s funny I happily fell off 3 times learning to ride clipped in on an MTB.
Motorbike scared me though.
These days it takes me longer to put my gloves on than boots if I’m riding in textile jacket. I always run long gloves so by the time I get them fitting snug and double cuffed then fit jacket over the top my mates have already left ha ha

Finally got around to fitting quick shifter. WOW why didn’t I do this earlier. I’m amazed at how smoothly it changes

OEM one?

People often claim they can shift faster than a QS... but no way in hell i could above half rpm (low rpm is smooth, but lazier than me :) )

After talking to bike shop I went with Annitori. Easy install and adjustable sensitivity and kill time.
There is no way I could shift quicker at any revs. With clutch taken out of it and no let off of throttle. I haven’t touched kill time from stock but that’s 55ms.
I’ve still been using clutch 1st to 2nd because it seems wrong but I’m sure I’ll train the brain to trust it.

My shiny new xsr comes with a quick shifter, not that I'd know, I don't think I could train my brain to leave the clutch alone if I tried

Today I swapped the horrid purple colour match shorty levers with the stock levers. I'm a two finger braker so the short brake lever didn't bother me, but I hated the clutch lever. The stock brake lever is adjustable reach anyway, so once adjusted, the stock length isn't an issue. Maybe I'm just way too old school to get it, but I hated the shorty levers.

I've never tried a quick shifter, so no opinion, but the SV's gearbox is so smooth shifting that no clutch is required after 3rd. I use the clutch anyway, just habit, but the gearbox is typical silky smooth Suzuki.

I am really loving this bike.

It’s a weird feeling that’s for sure. Try a 4th to 5th change first at about 6k.
I did it this way first because higher gears will want to change easier anyway.
My brain doesn’t want to do 1st to second yet but I’m all for them now.
