Motorcycle Thread - Post it all

Today I swapped the horrid purple colour match shorty levers with the stock levers. I'm a two finger braker so the short brake lever didn't bother me, but I hated the clutch lever. The stock brake lever is adjustable reach anyway, so once adjusted, the stock length isn't an issue. Maybe I'm just way too old school to get it, but I hated the shorty levers.

I've never tried a quick shifter, so no opinion, but the SV's gearbox is so smooth shifting that no clutch is required after 3rd. I use the clutch anyway, just habit, but the gearbox is typical silky smooth Suzuki.

I am really loving this bike.

I think shortys are more comfortable for me. This has stemmed from dirt bikes were 2 fingers only all the time. One finger braking a lot of the time. I run ASV shortys on the Daytona.
Saying that I haven’t changed levers on the dirt bike yet. If I break a lever I’m sure I will though

My business partner is a Royal Enfield and MV Augusta dealer. Thought some of you might appreciate some of these BTS shots from a shoot we did a little while back.

Does your business partner have any details on that new 5 cylinder motor?

At $30 a lever the stockies do me just fine haha. I just bang em inwards as far as I can, then they don’t squish the other fingers and I enjoy the extra leverage.
One finger each for me. Hydraulic clutches are a godsend.

I wondered why your shots were generally so good @Justin Fox - I take it you do a bit of photog work?

PS: Dibs on not having to ride pillion on the Brutale!

Yes sir! Retired graphic designer, but was a full time photographer for a few years after that, and now just part of a team of photographers (I shoot mostly the BTS stuff these days).

Nice one. To be honest, the BTS stuff would (probably?) be a lot more fun to shoot as less hassle setting up lighting and a gazzilion hours in editing I guess. Glad to hear there's still some work out there for photographers in the face of the AI onslaught too...

give it a deliberate go first... QS downshift stopping for lights with closed throttle.... auto-blip should be smooth :)

It’s a weird feeling that’s for sure. Try a 4th to 5th change first at about 6k.
I did it this way first because higher gears will want to change easier anyway.
My brain doesn’t want to do 1st to second yet but I’m all for them now.

I'm out.

Tried it today and I have to concentrate wayyyyyy too hard to not grab the clutch
It works, it doesn't kersplode the gearbox, it's probably faster, but it's not for me. I guess I'll just rest easy knowing it'll have my back if I miss the clutch from time to time, but the clutch grab is too ingrained into muscle memory to stop doing it.

Also, that xsr is fucking amazing. It's really hard to explain just how exactly correct they made this thing. The only gripe I have is having to clean the tank after every ride

Yeah nah, if I was chasing laptimes, it would be a definite must have, but with road riding I'm trying to be good these days.

And yeah, that XSR looks ace, and if it's sweet riding too, then jism for daze.

I saw one of those in LBS a couple of weeks ago. I thought it would be a cool little thing to cruise around on. This colour scheme

It’s quite peppy and for the price the suspension is good - I would leave the front alone for now - change the rears for more adjustments and get the seat reupholstered it’s a little uncomfortable for my fat arse but was adequate for the 112kms I did today

Took the ebike out for a walk last night.
Monday arvo rides are the best way to start the week, I need to do it more often. Total sweat fest. Had a ball just riding around seeing what snotty little climbs there are away from the main trails before putting in a proper loop to get the heart rate going.

Ran out of uggs after a pivot turn and got stuck on a step. Took a minute to get up this bit hahaha

Rode the SV650 to Gembrook today to farewell a good mate. He was a rider too.

Anyway, the section between Pakenham Upper at the servo intersection and Gembrook is sensational. Obviously back in the day I rode it endlessly. But I’d forgotten how flowy it was.

Some of the corners choppiness nearer Gembrook tested the wooden suspension out a bit, but the sweet bigger open smooth ones towards P Upper were mint.

Going there, there was some cars… but on the way home, not a single one. I got a rhythm going and let it flow.

So glad I bought this bike.
