Mt Beauty or Falls Creek

I'm visiting Bright again around christmas time with possibly 1 free day where I can go to Falls Creek or Mt Beauty

I don't ride DH or do crazy all mountain trails with massive jumps or big drops.
Where should I spend my day ? The Falls Creek flow videos looks nice

Mt Beauty is natural trails with lots of up and lots of down, and hard work but rewarding.
Falls is man-made and a reasonable amount of rocky bits but no big jumps or drops unless you want to. My kids have ridden both so they're not too hard but we did have a broken wrist at Mt Beauty. Falls has good maps, and easy to get around, Mt Beauty go to the info place for good maps.

Both good.

And Falls is an extra hours driving up and another down...

Thanks for that, in that case which one will have more things to do for those that don't ride ?
My kids are too young to ride with me and wife don't ride, I will also have my parents coming along :)

The temperature difference between Falls and Mt Beauty is about 12 degrees so if it is hot Falls is nicer but if its rainy go Mt Beauty?

Both have walks kids/parents could do, or swim if its hot, and cafes. The extra drive could be a big factor if kids or parents don't like windy roads.

I prefer Falls, there's more variety and more fun.

Do both, get the family to come to Falls and have a nice day walking around.
There are a couple of short walks to good view points.

On the way back get dropped off at the top of Mt. Beauty and ride down to the town.

Happy dayz

That's what we did after riding Falls for Ignition.

Thank you all.
I think the general consensus is that I have to do both :)

Riding to Bright from Mt. Beauty now that's an idea, I'd have to climb up Tawonga Gap, hopefully 34t chainring and 42t cassette is low enough.

Falls was really good last Sunday , gentle rain few days prior, shuttles, good vibe everyone friendly and nice food at the carpark ; Flowtown v. grippy no braking bumps.
There is a new/ upgraded track called Big Fella which splits halfway down . Did the advanced option to the left both times not too hard nice series of small rock drops then a funky much harder steep cross camber drop and dirt wall ride, another drop and 2 jumps.

second that... I did shuttles at falls this sunday just gone (23rd) its always good at the start of the season before all the dirt gets eroded/washed away, and it ends up a teeth chattering rock fest. It was good fun, even though the shuttle turn around was a bit average... Big Fella is good fun, top section is pretty fast, nothing really hard, would like it to be a bit longer, or link to flowtown better than having to go back up to the aquaduct and across to wishing well.
As mentioned its pretty tame at falls nothing crazy, I ride an AM/Trail bike there, DH bike is probably a bit overkill, especially for flowtown.

Double 2nd that .Yeah 5 runs was enough but shuttle turn around a bit slow.Prolly wasnt busy enough .
I think straight section of the lower Bigfella, what ever the name is ,will need rock armoring cos will get xs braking
Carpark cafe really good.

where is everyone staying at falls?

Heading up for a weekend with wife and kids just checking on accommodation recommendations- probably stay on site and trip back to bright as required.

I however am very normal. Trust me.

When I took the family up, we went for Skilib, private 3rd floor apartment with sensational views and off street parking next to building. Only downside is walking up three flights of stairs!

Carried them up the stairs :( admittedly, this was shit after a full days riding.

It is a three bedroom apartment, put a mat down in the bedroom without a view and parked them in there. I never asked if this was allowed, but also made sure no one would know that I did.

Another option I've used without the family present, but they do have family rooms, is viking lodge, cheaper, classic communal type lodge, was happy to pay a bit more for a private apartment for skilib - keep the mrs happy. Also if they are still strict at falls, on no street parking, and no room off street at viking.

Cheers definitely getting the private accommodation. Was looking at a altitude, Frerau village and the qt. Qt reviews haven’t been kind on TripAdvisor of late...

Bike security and storage sucks at these places currently...

I went an airbnb in Bright, might be similar at falls? Weve always been allowed to have bikes in the houses and its much more secure. Might be an option in falls?

All owners of accom understand the need for bike security.
BTW its v unlikely to get a bike stolen from Falls village during the summer but bring a bike lock .

Only thing you'll run into at Falls during summer are other mountain bikers and tradies. Last time I stayed there I splurged for a suite at QT since it was our honeymoon. They had no issues with us bringing the bikes into the room (up the elevator). They may have changed their policies since then though.
