we were up there on AUS day
me 2 mates and the club i ride with regularly (GVMBC) we were there from the first lift run to the last. (well me anyway, the others run out of steam) it wasnt untill the last 5 or so runs that i noticed some of the fellas in bright orange walking the international track with shovels and picks, doing some maintenance. tomorrow is the last of the chair lift being open every day, and open every weekend from then on untill about april, give or take (depending on attendance).

back on track, some sections of international have blown out massive there are some roots (surprisingly not slippery) that are hovering a good 3-4inch over the track where all the dirt has either washed away or just blown out. so my guess is they will be fixing things like this over the next few weeks. (could be an idea to get up there) they are both great tracks. Abom and international

Some bastard stole my goggles off the table at the bottom where you get on the chairlift when I was up there Australia day weekend. Give them back, they are expensive.

A slap and sledge

I was at Buller yesterday and as they say on Sports Today I have to give a slap and a sledge.

SLAP: Well done to Sam and the other builders who, although getting to stuff very late in the season, have done a really great job with some great additions on International. Some of the work through the second section of International have really given it some flow. It's not quite as tech but they've worked hard and it shows.

SLEDGE: To the grommies who were too precious to go on the chairlift two at a time. I love sitting in a lift queue in the hot sun as much as anyone, but leave your handbags at home, and go two at a time so we can all get back up the hill faster and get our money's worth of runs! Rant over.

Oh and by the way, if you're still keen to get up there, I was told by two different staff members yesterday that the lifts will be open weekend of 13-14 March - hope it's true!

Yep, it's true. It was up on the noticeboard today. I heard it may be open for easter weekend too... They said to keep an eye on the website.
I was up there yesterday and today and it was really great to see so many people there. I'll definitely be there for the Bike Buller festival.

We had an extra pair show up in our group, though unless they were really old and beat up with the lens half hanging out, we are pretty sure they were just an old pair of ski goggles kicking around the storage area in the lodge we were staying at. Give a description though - someone may recognise!

^^^you could manage Abomb no problems on a hardtail (hope for forks have decent travel) but i would stay away from international (they are race tracks; Abomb old race track, international new one)

but like i said im riding klingsporn and delatite, i guess i'll just take the shore :)
Hi Mitch,

You can do Klingsporn on your downhill. A group of dh boys did it the other day as their last run of the day after the lifts stopped. They enjoyed it and like doing it at the end of the day to finish the day off.

Don't know about Delatite.

Cheers

Delatite trail is XC territory you can tak your DH but there is a little bit of pedalling envolved and 14 river crossing to walk through great fun and an adventure.
