MTB Trails in Batemans Bay & Mogo

I've managed to squeeze in a couple of rides so far and....
slimjim, your trail is a real blast  did about half a dozen runs down it,also walked up it and did a stick cleanup as i went,it's a descent length as well, only thing i didn't enjoy was that short uphill section half way down,it really slowed you down to much :faint:......
the abalone- torque converter -Ra50 section down to the dam is a good ride also

Glad you enjoyed, I did a blind run down it last week and it was riding pretty good except there was a few rogue sticks so thanks for taking care of that! :clap2:

yeah, one of the little buggers got wedged between the front tyre and the forks......
made a little "extra" bit of trail with the sudden stop....
is there any other gravity trails near the top of that one?
had a ride up and down the fire trails but couldn't see any

another top morning ride, warmed up with a lap of the dam, then did a bit of exploring, was lucky enough to bump into a bloke with some local knowledge (thanks Brett) who showed me some lesser known spots
had a slightly embarrassing moment when bunny hopping a fallen log at mach3 ,got a bit to endruo for my own good and while in the air, realised the trail went left while i was plowing straight ahead through the bush:pound:
note to self:look ahead, don't let perceived ability over ride actual ability........:bananalama:

I am heading down to Bateman’s Bay on Friday and wanted to check out the trails near Mogo dam that I spotted on Trail Fork.

https://www.trailforks.com/route/mogo-dam-loop/

Can anyone point me in the direction of the best place to park the car?
From memory I think these are mostly dirt roads near the trails.

Also which bike should I take, the 29er All MTN hard tail or the Fat bike?

Park on the corner of ridge road and dog trap. On the grass near the houses at the top of the ridge, just before it turns to dirt is best actually. Proceed to the intersection of ridge and dog trap and you should find the trail map on a tree just off the fireroad.

Hardtail would be fine for those trails.

Thanks SlimJim, much appreciated! This saves me getting lost after a long drive. I will take the 29er. Cheers

Thinking of doing the sea change thing to Ulladulla or nearby sometime in the future
I'm a member of all the local FB groups, but there doesn't seem to be a great deal of interesting riding

Mogo (fires notwithstanding) and Nowra are about 60 k's away when I'm used to having options nearby
And i'm not even sure if the riding at these places is that great

Anybody know what the best options are for the Sat/ Sun blat around some nice singletrack (or even after work??)

I can find 6km's of trail in Ulladulla at Woodburn.
Haven't seen around Bateman's - I'll have a squizz

I've found the best way to find the good trails is to ask as the best one's may not be authorised
I had a plan to hook up with some locals over Xmas and then in Feb, but the whole area is a mess
Wondering if anyone had some first hand knowledge of the area

Yeah, not many people disclose pirate trails these days. If you know your way around strava it usually reveals a lot.

Oh of course, what was i thinking
Same deal as up here in the upper blue mountains
Not 1 official trail and lots of secrecy, paranoia etc
Had to build our own trail up here to have something close to home

Still like to know what Woodburn and anywhere authorised is like
Might have to ask at the bike shop when I'm down there - not much looks rideable atm

The SCUM trails at Nowra are good fun, though more on the XC side of things. They lost one of their loops Coondoo in the recent fires, which was the easier more famil-friendly one. Superbowl and Butterfly have been spared. They are still closed at the moment though.

Theyre also taking donations for the rebuild of Coondoo if anyone’s keen.

Mogo trails were similarly XC oriented but I haven’t been in a few years and I’m not sure how things are following the fires. I’d guess not ideal.

Where are you sea changing from?
There is not a lot of MTB there. I checked out some trails at kings point and they were sandy moto tracks.
I have not ridden the new official stuff yet and only heard is is pretty flat and lots of pedaling.
I did like mogo dam ok a Hard tail but not enough to want it to be my local.

Oh dear - I was hoping Kings Point was some sort of guerilla trail as I read it was good many years ago
I'm moving from the upper blue mountains
Nothing official up here but a group of dedicated builders see enough about to keep us entertained
I was king of hoping for the same down there :-(
