I am just seeing this quirky resemblance of soo many ppl who ride. I myself used to be a computer geek, overclocking and going to lans but I no longer have the intrest or the money (as it all goes into my bike) to keep up with the changing times of computers. I have a look at panas picks and sure enough, he has computer parts on his shelves and 3 monitors on his desk...
What do you reckon about it?

lol, yeah... I'm pretty much in denial. I used to goto lans, but don't anymore. I have more computers than I know what to do with. *sigh* Oh well, it gets me through each day.

With that many computers on your desk, being in denial must take a lot of effort. Looks pretty much like acceptance to me ;)

haha yeah im a geek aswell ... I hurt my ankle as a result of riding .. and got into Computers .. i used to play a game called Motocross Madness .. and found that i needed to upgrade my computer to play it better .. when i found out the cost of upgrading i thought fark this .. how hard can it be .. from then i got into Computers ...

I love all the people who give people into computers shit .. i am a self confessed geek .. I live with my mates and we have 5 machines on a network .. we share porn and other goodies .. my CPU is a 700e running at 900mzh with a FSB of 133 ... it crashes cause my video card cannot handle such a high FSB. :)

haha .... my geeking around a traineeship in geekship .. has landed me a nice job with the government .. and i get paid good money now being a geek !!!!! so all us geek unite .. we are bringing MTB's and Computers together .... those who call us geeks .. can suck my **** and ill see you on the trail Bitch !!!.

hehe

Ride on

lol, like i said. I like to think I'm not.. but if I counted the number of hours I spend per week in front of the puter it'd be pretty daunting.

But then again... what else would I be doing? Watching tv.. I figure using a computer is much better than spending endless hour in front of the idiot box.

one of the great attractions of mtb'ing for me is that is gets me outside. I dont look all pasty and white, and it stops me from wacking on the pounds. And besides.. its awesome fun.

oh yeah, my interest in computers landed me a job easy too... nice and easy work.

aha! so i'm not the only one! i used to sit on my computer for freakin' ages at a time playing games, screwing around with html code etc. Then i bought my first proper mtb about 1.5 years ago (still the one i have today, albeit fairly modified) and haven't looked back. I recently got a new computer (go the AMDs!) but i don't use it anywhere near as much as i used the old beast of a machine - wastes too much precious riding time!

Ripe 'n ready!
yeah i'll have to confess that i am majorly into computer, i don't know much about them but i spend at least 3 hours a day on my ass infront of my monitor drooling over...... well lets not go there.
yeah i hate geek bashers, they ennoy me. LAN's rule, i took one of my mates (major jock) to a LAN and he farkin loved it and he said to me "yeh man.... what man?? yeh man next time u have a watcha ma-call it man give us a buzz yeh man?? ok man"

same story here... as in used to be into overclocking and lans and all that, now it doesn't interest me anywhere near as much...

i heard MTB'ing decribed as a computer geek (or nerd) sport by someone on tv, maybe in a cartoon or something.. i guess it's partially true.

i guess this forum might be a lil' biased seeing as it's semi-related to overclockers.com.au
(which still is my daily news page for lack of a better news source for all things cool, heck i still ike gadgets even if i don't follow computers as closely these days)

now for me it's MTBs, photography and computer graphics all the way, besides those hobbies pull more chicks than "ya I like messing with computers and playing games on them.. a-hoick"
(nerd like sound added for effect)

I'm living by the excuse that computers are for rainy weather when I don't want to ride but most people see thru that. I've just upgraded to a 2.2 GHz system with liquid cooled case and all the other geek p0rn components. But only so i can edit MTB vids I swear....

Never touched a computer until i got my first CNC mill about 6-7 years ago and only used it for drawing CAD stuff until i learnt about the internet about 2 years ago. I still know stuff all about em.

Yeah, I pretty much try and share my time with both riding and computers. It gets annoying sometimes, because you think to yourself, 'aww, i'm too lazy to ride just right now, maybe in 10 minutes'. Then in 10 minutes time the same thing happens again. The good bit is, that when you do actually get out riding, you don't feel like going to back to your computer for a while because you're having so much fun :D

I just love the internet i can spend all day on it no worries thanks to Farkin. If their was no internet thought i dont think i would use a computer to much.

Heh, I hear that Nathan. My broken arm leaves me with nothing to do all day, so it's pretty much; check farkin, troll RM for news, check farkin, troll Pinkbike for news, check farkin, troll velonews for news *repeat all morning*

Damn I think I must be, well according to my mates. I work in the industry so I pretty much spend most of my dat on a PC. My friends are all tradies and give me shit for working in an office on a computer all day. They got me a sticker with a balding middle-age fatass with glasses that says "I Work in I.T". Stuck it on my Giro Mad Max :D
