My FOX Float CTD Evolution has gone soft

So I took my bike down off the wall today after it being up there for 3 weeks to install my bars.

Once it was all back together, I sat on it to ensure I was comfortable. It was at that point that I noticed that I was getting a lot of travel while in 'climb' mode.

Way more than what it would allow the last time I went for a ride.

So from what I understand, this happens when some air gets into the bit where the oil should only be and it's time for a service.

Aside from sending it off to NSD, are there any places that will service a FOX shock local in Melbourne? The S.E. of Melbourne would be ideal as I am in Cranbourne. Just looking to avoid the hassle of sending it off places and not having it for a few days.

Cheers in advance.

Thanks. I just checked out his site and the poor bloke is out of action due to injury!
I have found Tekin good in the past (haven't used current incarnation of business), particularly if you want to modify/customise performance.

However my routine maintenance is done by Paul Bryant at Astroboyracer.

Helpful, knowledgeable, great customer service.

Had the same problem with mine. Went back three times but they seem to have got it sorted after replacing the entire boost valve assembly. The first two times I got it back it would be fine for the the half of a ride then lost all compression damping......the CTD switch was ineffective.

That's a prospect that doesn't excite me.

Where did you get yours looked at? I just dropped my bike at trailmix to get the shock and forks serviced and told him about the issue. He seemed pretty confident he can sort it out.

Fingers crossed.

If it was the fork I'd say drop it in to me (I'm in Frankston), but I'm yet to learn the intricacies of rear shocks.
Yeah, I'm similar. If it was the fork I could tackle it as I've serviced forks before but the shock seemed to have a few points where there was a little spring or ball bearing that would eject when you're not looking and result in much fun and frustration.

So after a week at the shop, the guys at Trailmix has thrown in the towel and sent the shock to an authorised service place.

It seems that the FOX shocks are a bike more fiddly and more specialised tools are needed when compared to their Rockshox counterparts.

Hopefully I will have the bike back next week.

Shouda just gone to Tekin or Astroboy.

Hard to find an LBS that is capable with forks let alone shocks.

Yeah, lesson learnt.

It was more a convenience thing, I was at Lysterfield riding and decided to drop the bike there.

Ah well, not too much of a bit deal and next time I need the shock damper serviced I know to try Tekin or Astroboy.

:)

Hey mate, sorry to hear of your troubles. Astro, or myself are typically the ones to go to in VIC, NS in QLD, TBSM in NSW.

I am off the tools for awhile, but should be back in a month or so depending on what happens with this injury! You know for later though,

Cheers,

Brad

Yeah, saw you did yourself some harm on your site. Hope you're healing well!

And to top things off, I was going to washing my bike today as when I dropped it off it was straight after a ride, and I found a small mark on the shock stantion that wasn't there when I dropped the bike.

Sent pictures to the guys at Trailmix so see what happens.

That will teach me for not looking over the bike when I picked it up, but I was in a hurry.

FML.
