Hey fellas,

In the market for a new bike to replace my 2011 Enduro.
My riding recently consists of 50% Enduro, 25% DH, 5% Park and 20% Trail riding.
Specifically Youies, Red Hill, Buxton, Lysterfield, Maydena & Bright. Planning to do NZ and Whistler.

In short , I need an aggressive do it all bike that doesn't pedal like a hog and will be fine for bike parks.
Pretty much a park/freeride bike that can pedal back up fireroads.

After riding my mates Capra, I found that it pedalled way better than expected and as good, if not better than my Enduro. Tried a Torque and same story.

So my current contenders are:
2018 YT Capra AL Comp
2018 Canyon Torque AL 6 & CF 8
2019 Commencal Clash Race

I was planning on holding out to see the 2019 models of the Capra and Torque, but the Clash just got announced and it looks very appealing for my budget of $5k.

Here is a specs and geo list for all the bikes, and some pro's and con's (some points require more self education like determining if DUB is cereal or coolaid .. seriously just give me BSA and call it a day)
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DkhqyTGv_BcMc4TXp8FT0Hwrm73sprp0lReQJ5h81sM/edit?usp=sharing

You'll notice all my builds have RS gear ... that's just what I'm mechanically familiar with and have been happy with my current RS setup.

Any thoughts are appreciated ... preferably raw and unfiltered

Thanks fellas

Don't forget these bad boys. I would say the Rose Soul Fire or Pine Peaks, but they expect something like €900 in postage, and that'll blow the budget.
Any reason you'd go the Commencal Clash over the Meta AM? I know it's a little bigger, but the Meta has bottle cages and is enduro ready and certainly enough bike to slap park laps as well.

All size mediums?
How important is differences in Geo (if any?)

Prolly not an issue for you but a couple of recent reviews of Commencals mentioned that larger feet/shoes were prone to rubbing on the CS. It seems their rear ends are wider. Not a biggie on a bike that will do a minimum amount of pedalling I guess.... but it would irritate me.

Ouff they are some nice looking bikes ... especially like the kit on the Propain.
If I were to purchase from overseas, I'd just book a flight there for a holiday and fly back with it.
The Meta AM looks great, bottle cage is low on my priority list and I'm just leaning towards the tad more extra bike. Also am a Spank wheel fanboy so there's some bias there too. It seems like both bikes cross over quite heavily in what they can handle.

Yeah medium for all. I'm 175cm so creeping up to the limit of a M.
Maybe I might have to measure my arms and legs to see if I'm a spider and an L is suited.
The geo on all of them seems almost the same so am open to slight changes. I figure bikes in this category (Super Enduro?) are more or less the same geo.
Ah interesting point on the chain stay ... I'll do some sussing around

Thread dig, what did you end up going with? In your very position at the moment, with the Clash being the Commencal Meta 27.5 'replacement'.
Anyone know if it is a pig on the climbs?

The guys up at DHaRCo said it climbed particularly well for a long travel rig. They have one up there on display, but unfortunately it's not a demo bike.

Test ride the 2019 Trek Remedy 8.

Great value for money with SRAM GX12 speed, RS Lyrik Debonair fork, RS Deluxe RT3 shock....
Save your money on expensive carbon frames and use it where it matters most, upgraded wheels.
I'm blown away at how well the Remedy 8 climbs, I happily keep up with guys on Carbon XC orientated bikes (even 29ers which are supposed to be faster ;-)) but the thing soaks up rough descents like a dream. Such great suspension!
