Round 5 entries close tonight!

Just a reminder that entries for round 5 close at midnight tonight!

The course is good to go! (see above video)

Weather looks good, fine and beautifully warm: http://www.weatherzone.com.au/nsw/illawarra/appin

We have over $12,000 in cash and prizes to hand over including some brilliant random draws! Anyone interested in a set of pimpin' white Avid Elixir 5's? A $1500 voucher to spend on a new Cannondale of your choice? OK, how about a 100mm SID XX series fork also in blingy white? Anything tickle your fancy there? :p

And if your ready to party we'll be retiring to the Appin Hotel (all of 50 meters walk from transition) for a few drinkies and tunes being pumped out by the band "Touch Wood"

Hardtail of Dually for Appin

Anyone ridden this track before?

I was gonna ride my dually, but am itching to do some miles on my new hardtail - anyone know if the trail is too bumpy for 8 hours of solo action?

How does it compare to Stromlo / Yellomundie / Wiseman's Ferry?

cheers

Another cracking day for the Chocolate Foot crew.
Weather has been perfect for every round of the series, and Appin turned on a perfect spring day.
A bit of carnage on the course (bikes and bodies) as tired bodies struggled with some of the tough technical sections.

A big congratulations to Jo and Fi for a great series.
I'm sure next year it will be on many peoples must do list now. ;)

Something to think about, being a series I would have thought that the series points would only count for those that attended all 5 rounds?

Melanie & Bruce (the 4th place team) were called up to the podium at the time and given prizes (someone can correct me if I'm wrong) & indeed the results do say they were awarded third place

Anyone that's ever been involved in running one of these events knows how hard it is to try and get the results out & right quickly so every one can get home. The Race Director has probably been up since 4 am that morning and had a late night the night before, so some times a little bit of patience can go a long way. Going straight to the forums the day after and having a whinge the day after is uncool, a short polite email would have probably got everything sorted.

Now that is more like it but that is not what was up there earlier and just for the record I have been involve in running plenty of races over the last 18 years in the sport:)

Can't say what happened at the event but the results definitely have been changed since the event. Mel and Keith were originally listed as 4th when I checked them. Good that they've been updated to 3rd but I agree that the podium should have reflected the rules. Some of us girls look for that rule in particular to know we're going to competing against fair "mixed" teams rather than guys who have got a girl to do one lap.

We've had a similar experience in mixed pairs, but in an event that didn't have rules about minimum female laps... kinda sucked because in the other pair she was only doing one lap to her partner's three! Luckily we beat them any way. But it definitely left a sour taste in our mouths.

If the race organisers were approached and didn't sort stuff out then forums is the only way to go really. Not ideal but if you publish rules you need to stick to them!
