Join representatives of Logan Community Trail Care Alliance (LCTA), South East Queensland Trails Alliance (SEQTA), and Logan City Council at Cornubia Forest this Sunday to officially open SEQ's newest trail - 'Ginger Gully'.

There will be a free BBQ for lunch and a mega-train of riders down the trail after the ribbon is officially cut! Most importantly, this is a great opportunity to demonstrate to land managers the enthusiasm of the riding community for new MTB singletrack. So bring the family, bring your mates, bring your bike, and see you Sunday!

Date: Sunday 4 August

Time: 11.30am - approx. 1pm

Meet: At the top of the trail - best access is via the end of Kimberley Dr, Shailer Park. We're encouraging as many people as possible to ride over from Daisy Hill. If you do need to park, please be careful not to block resident's driveways or streets.

RSVP via Facebook here (to help with catering): https://www.facebook.com/events/186148204892762

About the trail: Located in Cornubia Forest, the new trail represents 662 hours of volunteer labour from 15 working bees and over 50 tonnes of rock and fill! The end product is over half a kilometre of flowy, technical singletrack descending the ridge line and passing through numerous vegetation communities - including the super technical 'Ginger Gully'.

Wondering what the new trail is like? Here's a sneak peak: https://vimeo.com/71506758

Remember that the official opening is on this Sunday around 11.30am. We are looking for a big turnout from the MTB Community to show our enthusiasm to the land managers and help secure new trails for the region. Not to mention the free BBQ lunch!!

This is also a great chance to learn the Cornubia trails if you're new to the forest. BSMC are kindly putting on a couple of social rides to which all are welcome to join:

9:30am - meet Daisy Hill Top Car Park notice board (Car Park before Koala park entrance on Daisy Hill Road) This group will ride for 30 minutes to get to the Cornubia trails. The ride has a few hills but is all fire road or quiet suburban streets. Once in Cornubia you can join a group to ride the technical trails around Cornubia or join the group riding slightly easier trails and the ridge fire roads.

10am - meet at the step over at the end of Kimberly Drive. (This is almost at the trail head for "Ginger Gully") From here you can choose to ride the technical trails around Cornubia or join the group riding slightly easier trails and the ridge fire roads.

Both groups will be back at the trail head by 11am for the official opening and BBQ.

You can then stay and play around the area ride the new trail or head back home.
