I'd leave the guards on. You'll get plenty of grit thrown up from the street into them.

Nar, not yet.
I was going to put it on the GT SoCal 5 frame but I don't think it will suit.
Gunna have to buy an appropriate frame I guess, it's a pretty beefy feeling fork for a cheapie

I think so, but wouldn't spacing the rotor make it unsafe (as if that's ever worried me)
2 x 5mm spacers for the axle and 1 x 5mm spacer for the disc, then usually 6 x longer screws supplied with the spacer kit.

Not ideal but it works.

So what you are saying is to buy a boosty wheel. I'm guessing 26 inch boost does not exist.
