Mr Greenfield
Haven't really slept well for 4 weeks, riding around looking at old people walking... thinking if I would get to that age. Listening to people talking about retirement, what they were going to do in 3yrs, not knowing if I was going to see that healthily.

Lots of shit has gone through my head in the last 4 weeks, not good. I don't have any head issues and never had, I feel for those who do but the last few weeks has been a shit sandwich.

I never thought I would ever be celebrating stage 1 low grade cancer... it was a the best thing I have ever heard.
JFC, that's a massive head fuck dude. best of luck on this fucked up journey

I'm sorry this has happened to you, and I hope the forward moving news is positive. Getting in early with stage 1 is definitely beneficial.

Oath it is !

I have zero symptoms and all medical journals talk about PSA of >4.

Mine was 3.5 at 49 with cancer in both sides. Get your PSA done blokes, this disease is catching out under 50's with a death sentence.

The Aussie thing is PSA and Bowel over 50, it's deadly if not got early.

Shit @ozzybmx thats a roller coaster of a few weeks. Second @johnny kick that bastard good.

Reminds me I need to get my bloods done. Dad had bowel cancer (caught early and fully recovered) in his early 50s I think. so it’s recommended I have all the checks earlier than usual.

My brother had bowel at 47 after I had a colonoscopy at 47, mine was clear, his wasn't.

Fucking lot of shit out there trying to kill us, do the testing mate and look forward to the grandkids.

@ozzybmx I hope all goes well, catching it early is the best possible start to treatment. Your message to the males to get tested is a good one. I worked with a guy who had regular checks. Over the course of two years his psa rose from around 1 to 2 and that was enough for his gp to start tests. He found the same as you. Again early diagnosis and prompt treatment and a full recovery and positive result. He did decide to paint his house while the diagnosis and treatment occurred to take his mind off things. He was able to look later and see that it didn't really and his quality of painting was less than ideal...

Family history and a major career change saw me start regular checkups in my 30s. The company had a policy that required officers to have full blown medicals every year with things like calcium checks etc every 5. So I have been having annual blood tests and check ups ever since. So far all clear including the skin checks at a real dermatologist since late 50s. I can only recommend to everyone male and female to set up the same regime and follow through. I have mates who haven't had any tests for something like 20 years. One had a very average calcium score but didn't understand what it meant so has made no changes to habits. It costs bugger all, just some time.

Fuck cancer and all who sail in her.

Mate you don't make appointments with specialists if you are really sick or seriously injured, chances are you are already in hospital.
correct, at which point youre a default public patient unless you have the wits to consent to being treated as private. the whole argument about timley cost investigations is moot.

Ah shit, hope all goes well @ozzybmx
Good reminder for us all. I never even knew about a PSA so that added to the list. I get regular skin checks (have already had a few cancers removed) and had a precautionary colonoscopy done a year ago, all clear, I just have haemorrhoids, yay!
Getting old certainly sucks.

Cheers guys, I believe it will be a full recovery.

The technology now with the PSMA PET scans, invented by Aussies in 2020, now used worldwide, listed on the Australian MBS in July 2022 is a life saver... and free to Aussies.

My granda had it 40 yrs ago, my dad 25 yrs ago. Both at a later stage than me and both made a full recovery.

Once it's out, I won't be living in fear of it coming back. I'll take it as finished and move on.

I'll be needing a new bike after it's all done and dusted ;)
