I havnt had a bike of mine stolen before and i hope i never will but Techno Destructo gave me the idea for this thread and i thought it would be good.

I know of one in Frankston. I dont know what it is called but is in an alleyway near the centro, its a fairly small one too. Another in Frankston is Cash Converters, had peanty of bikes, a bmx with an ironhorse logo on it aswell.:confused:

I think you will find that EVERY pawn shop in AUSTRALIA deals bikes nearly.. unless they are specifically a car pawn dealer. Otherwise they will sell you a bike.. alcoholics, gamblers and druggies will pawn anything to get their next fix... anything from a bike to a pair of oven mitts.

yea i saw a 2007 norco rampage in the one down the street from me in mayfield (dodgy area in Newcastle) and the funny thing is it had a flat tyer and dont you think that if u were selling a bike a pawn broker or to any one you would make sure it was in the best condition.
And if you were the pawn broker YOU would make sure that the bike was in good condition and also the bike was very dirty

NOTHING SUS
but it sold and every thing

If your looking for downhill or jump bikes like Kona Shred or a Norco Team DH you should go to the cash converters in Preston. They've always got mad mad bikes there and the update them every week. I haven't been there for like 6 months so who knows what you'll find.

The thing that's most suss is if you had a good DH or freeride beast you obviously know enough about it to have a:paid good money for it, b:been involved in the scene for some amount of time and c:be fully aware that you'll get better money for it selling it to someone who actually wants it rather than a shop who want's to pay less as they then have to sell it on. So really, any bike that's not old as the hills or a generic no name ride is more than likely a hot item that the thief want to get quick cash for. is this not a fair assumption? So next time a bike like this is brought in to a store by a drunk grey bearded dude wearing 8 layers on a 35 degree day who knows only that it rolls when facing downhill or you push those thingys with your feet, maybe he's NOT the real owner?!? Sure not ALL cases are going to be obvious, but by the number of sick bikes that show up in places like these there must be a fair bit of 'turning a blind eye' going on.. Who wouls sell their 4, 5, 6 grand bike to a cash converters for 600 bucks? Really?

Dunndog, you're right - it's a fair assumption to make but if you see a really nice bike in my shop it has been traded in for something equally awesome like a professional DSLR camera for example. Or alternativley I could be selling it on someone elses behalf.

I do this for a living, I can smell a rat a mile off, so you can be assured if someone comes in to sell me a stolen bike they either get a headbutt or arrested, whichever comes first :)

For those in and near Greensborough, a friend in the force tells me that the pawn shop on Main street regularly has incomplete records of where their stock has come from. I'd recommend having a look there if something of yours had gone missing.

a mate brough a 05 sprecialized big hit fsr for 950 was retty custom from cash convos in epping

jesus christ that guy must have sold oit for atleast 50 bux:eek:

clearly it was stolen but my friend sold it fo 2 grand so meh

Cash Converters VIC Spreadsheet

Hey guys,

I got three bikes nicked out of my shed the other month,

made up a spreadsheet to call all all VIC cashos overy few weeks..

I'm sure this will help lots of guys on here.

I think we should post on here if there's any expensive bikes at any of the stores, cause chances are they're stolen..

if anyone comes across a blue factory sunday or a 04 IG SGS team, or a grey glory give me a buzz, 0401960935.

also bicycle recycle in bentleigh (melbourne) gets a lot of trades
