Hi guys,

Stu here from the team at Pedal 4 Parkinson's.

Just wanted to firstly post up here about our event, and secondly address some queries that we've heard along the grapevine.

The event is a 6hr Enduro being held at Hans Loop in Templestowe on March 29, 2015. The primary focus of the event - other than to have a great day's riding of course - is to raise money for the Shake It Up Australia Foundation who fund research into Parkinson's disease. One of the event organizers was diagnosed with Parkinson's at age 32, and together with the MTB community, we want to use the event to help FIND A CURE!

We have mens and womens solo and team categories, and mixed and junior teams as well. Regardless of whether you are a seasoned racer or a novice, everyone is welcome to participate. It's going to be a great day. More info and registrations available at http://www.pedal4parkinsonsmtb.org.

Secondly, we have heard that there has been talk on these forums about the event and in particular about maintenance of the trails. I can't seem to find any specific threads here, so if you have seen these threads reply with a link here and I'll address any specific concerns people may have.

Essentially our intention isn't to "come, see and conquer" Hans Loop in any way. We love the trails at Hans Loop, and would hate for them to be ruined after a days fun. We have plans in conjunction with the Warrandyte MTB Club to do a working bee prior to and after the event to do a bit of trail maintenance and ensure that we leave the place ready to be ridden by the rest of the community. That said, we aren't trail builders so if you know anyone here that would be willing to lean on a shovel for a day and direct where to best spend our efforts, we'd love to hear from you.

Cheers,
The crew at http://www.pedal4parkinsonsmtb.org

I am more than happy to help you guys. I have friends too. What support do you have from Parks and WMBC? It needs to be coordinated as my idea of maintenance may differ from others

How's it all looking Stu
Hi JD,

Things are progressing well. We've been working hard to promote the event obviously but also working with Parks and the guys from Yarra Tracks and Trails to confirm a suitable route and any areas of the trail that could do with some bolstering before the event.

I think George was going to put the word out soon (if he hasn't already on here) but we have a working party next Sat 28th Feb and also Mar 21st to do some preparatory work on some key area that have been identified as needing it.

If you're still keen and available fill out the form on http://www.yarratrails.com.au/candlebark/p4p/trail-work.html to make sure your name is registered.

Cheers,
Stu
