Presta vs Schrader?

Schraeder valves leak. The cap is supposed to be part of the sealing system (at least that is the assumption in refrigeration)

The only positive to presta valves are the nut the supports the valve on the rim. Schrader were fine when bike pumps screwed on but pushing a pump head on to a valve that wants to disappear inside the tyre can eat a bag. This happens on bikes, trolley, wheel barrows. I fucking hate it. I have an ancient screw on pump that I use to get things started so I can push on the track pump head but it sucks.
I only buy schrader tubes with full length thread.

Waiting for @ashes_mtb to chime in!

Nothing wrong with Schrader. If anything, the valve cores and valve removal tool are pretty damn cheap from any auto parts place.
So too are presta valve cores from aliexpress. I haven't had to change many schrader valve cores though...
When I first started mtbing in the 80’s, and through 90’s racing days, schrader were always the norm rather than the exception.

Ok Clik valves arrived today and seem really good. Simple to install as standard presta valve stem.

Not sure I could do a better video than this

It's simple and it works well from what I can tell.

Could maybe ask G00Gl3 but might as well air my questions and your answers.

How do you let air out ?

Can it be cleaned out if gummed up with sealant ?

EDIT: What happens if you need air on the trail ?

EDIT2: Got some info. Full commit ! Still thinking co2 on the trails ?

Press in little bit at top
Not sure - meant to be better than Presta at getting clogged but cannot verify
Presta pump will work but I will put adapter on my little electric one for full click experience!

Awesome. Keen to see how you feel about them in a couple of weeks. But so far it seems like a good idea!

Thanks @downunderdallas just one question...if I had the "hi flo cores for presta" and was so inclined...I could just rock up to the servo and pump my tyres yeah?

Ahhhhhh...I was under the impression this was a converter for the presta stem over to a schrader nipple, so I coukd live the lazy life.

I wouldn't recommend them to leave permanently attached - purely because you can't screw the presta valve closed while attached, and though they will hold air I was always paranoid something would gum up with sealant. They also make it difficult/impossible to release pressure with the adapter still attached, but this style of adapter works adequately for pumping tyres up very little cost (see eBay, AliExpress, Temu, etc...) and take up almost no space in your pack when not in use:

Or there is the more expensive, but more permanent multi-piece valve option from e-Thirteen:

This statement relieves me somewhat...
"Clik Valve cores are backwards compatible with legacy Presta pump-heads (Lever-lock Style). For the best experience, pair your Clik Valves with the Clik-Connect Pump Head."

All these new valves are great but why dont we just go to Schrader, bigger hole, more air flow for tubeless, cheap valves and pumping available absolutely everywhere, even spares available in every car shop in the country.

We dont need the high pressure presta, we dont need the weight weenie of a presta, we dont need the slimline presta valve with MTB wheels. Leave presta for road bikes.

I don't have any Schrader valve wheels apart from on BMX's but if wheels started coming out with Schrader valves as standard tomorrow, it would be a massive win for MTB.

I have often wondered this also. Even roadies don't run those stupidly high pressures any more to my knowledge.

Another one for the Presta club was thin alu wheels and a narrower valve hole to help with hoop strength, also not an issue anymore even with road. Though I would still think road would keep the Presta.
