Project Car / Motorbike thread. Let's see 'em.

Merry fucking Xmas to you assholes
I still think the GT3RS is a better package. That turbo motor in the GT2 is almost like an old school turbo in its torque delivery. Scary to help! in 4 nanoseconds.
I haven't sat in one. I assumed that there would be different engine mapping and traction control settings at the turn of a button.

To be honest, a Toyota 86 would be the ideal track car for me. I'm happy to admit the limitations of my driving ability. I would rather wish for more power or grip than more driving ability.

I have been lucky enough to drive both on the road and the GT2RS was a handful. Dare I even suggest had too much power for a road car? The GT3RS though was different. Spinning that glorious 4.0 flat six out to 9k was a delight and it never bit, no crazy surge of Nms. On the track probably the reverse is true. The owner tracked both and said he was amazed how much faster the GT2 was around Phillips Island but did agree the 3 was a better choice for road stuff too.

Track driving is funny, when I was younger I couldn't understand people competing and being way down the rankings and yet now I am happy to run around at my own pace and give no shits where I sit compared to others. Truth be told the stuff ahead of me is either track only running slicks or non legal tyres so I am content to drive to the track, have a fun day, scare a few passengers and drive home. No need to pop the bonnet and put the blower on the turbo or remap the engine as the day progresses etc.

When I was younger I had dreams of tackling the Targa Tasmania with my wife in a GTR but I'm not so sure anymore.

I'll definitely do some driving training and track days in the R35 but not sure I will do any racing. Would be content just to scare myself (and maybe the kids) in my dream car in a safe track environment.

I have a moderate list in Carsales of all the cars I dream about (it's mostly full of RS4s for some reason).

Noticed a whole bunch across the board have been 'withdrawn from sale' recently. Market must be really cooling off.
I too have some cars I dream about, although mostly some Australian Nostalgia,
Have a friends dad who lets me drive his GTS when we have our annual boys night, at least once a month, last night took it for a decent drive towards Goulburn and its still a million smiles an hour car for me. Even though its still 'just a commodore' to some.
Hes had it since new, will have to take some pics as its still one of my all-time favourite cars to drive. Always talks about selling it and getting a GTSR but the prices are insane at the moment. No doubt has the funds as a contract manager/Pimp for the PS in Canberra.
I would buy in a heartbeat if it came up for sale.
Also has the older 2000ish Porsche 911 Carerra but it's quite aged and arguably worth less than the GTS now.

Jabubu

let you google that for me
I love the sprint format. No moron to outbrake themselves and take you out and you can go as hard or as easy as you like. Learn the track, learn the surface. You can explore limits without hurting anyone and if you wear a brown racing suit no one can tell.
I wanted to do a sprint meeting at Goodwood when I had the TVR but never got round to it and I really regret it now.

Interesting. I had a gen F GTS tuned to half a megawatt. Ran through consumables very fast. That is fuel, tyres and brakes. Still drove better than any 2t lump deserved to.

When I sat in the Nismo it was on the rotisserie. No access really allowed but as I was foreign rules were bended. Couple of Japanese men after got quite heated when they were told it was off limits. They didn't think I could understand what they were saying but they were very uncomplimentary to the gaijin. I think I may have said a few impolite things aimed their way...

There's a Jason Camissa YouTube clip on that Prince GTR
. Absolutely amazing car for the time.
