Project Car / Motorbike thread. Let's see 'em.

Another Frenchie lives to fight another day, leaving for its new life with their uni student son in Melbourne.

From a $300 almost scrapped job, to fixed up and sold very quickly for a suitable amount of pocket money for my troubles.

Well he's going to get an education alright... 😂
Yep. In the joys of a cheap decent car. Bought by people who understand the real problems with euro cars in Australia is fuckwit Australian mechanics. So they'll be fine.

Its a decent cheap car. I did a whole bunch to it I didn't have to and I could have easily sold it for the same money by spending less on it. But I like to sleep at night so I wanted it actually sorted out.

Might have to take a sabatical from the pushy builds, as I have just taken delivery of my lastest project.
This one is going to take a while.... It's forty years old and not had a lot of love.

Oooh. I had one of those. My first trials bike. Took some work before it ran well and rode properly. Loads of fun. I replaced it with some HRC hardcore bikes which were way more capable and lighter but still this was fun.

My old man had a BSA Bantam, then a Trumphy 500 (?) twin then a Norton 650. I have this stupid idea of getting one of the last two from the 50s as his were. I don't fit on a Bantam.

This is probably a dumb-arse question, and probably based on old school ways, but what is the difference between connecting accessories to the alternator vs following the charge wire out and connecting to the battery terminal?

None. Practicality usually means it is easier to connect at the battery. There may be something weird going on with ecu controlled alternators and the battery will damp demands to a degree.

#2 whose purchase of a mucks enpted our (wife's) decision to buy one too is going for a half false floor to keep one 3rd row seat. I made up the spacers and have the template etc. He has an original ARB fridge and the plan was fridge plus slide on the false floor. Fridge has been dormant for about a year and on recommissioning won't go below 11C. Likely thermostat issue which is a few hundred $ to fix. He then decides to go for a fridge/freezer. Tries #1's Dometic 75L and it fits but totals the available space. Search for a new fridge ensues and given our great run with a NL decides to get the NL 57L dual fridge/freezer. Picks up a new fridge slide with slide out table and then off to order the fridge. Except. While products are still advertised NL are pulling out of Oz and sticking with domestic RSA. Ok. Other fridges are possible and a couple of dual personality models. He picks an Engel again based on longevity rather than price. Engel is wider than the NL...

I have a new fridge slide with slide out cutting table to fit to my mux.

Barwork etc has been slowly released too so next year ours will finally get a bumper replacement bar, snorkel, steps and suspenders. Looking at adding a 45L aux fuel tank too. Progress is being made.
