Hi All,

I bought a hardtail 29er as I live near Cooma and have a sheetload of fire trails near my house. MTB is good cross training for triathlon which I started over the summer just gone.

Shame shame most of the fire trails across the highway are private property and stupidly steep, and my road bike history and pedal mashing style doesn't mix well with MTB where smooth is good.

So I just hit up some beginner single track on the weekend for the first time, and I plan to do more over the winter to build fitness, improve my technique and do something different and a little more "interesting" than road cycling.

I haven't really looked into stuff I "need" to buy for MTB, but I do have a birthday coming up :). I have pedals, shoes with cleats, a pump, a camelbak, but other stuff can easily be placed on the birthday present list.

Not interested in downhill, more cross country style stuff.

Cheers!

Tony
