Nah They only go and resurface the roads that don't really need it driving over the roads that do need resurfacing like the highway from Launceston to the airport powers that be decided it needed to be resurfaced and straight after Xmas was a good time to do it not many people using it then. THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. They have been resurfacing a 500mtr bike lane now for 2 years at one stage they ripped out 250mtrs of tar they had just laid. IT'S A BIKE LANE TRUCKS ARE NOT USING IT.

The tradie in me is all for a bit of "close enough good enough", but I'm with @Haakon on the quality of public infrastructure.

If the things were built to a reasonable price I could live with it, but when we spend gazzillions of dollars designing/engineering/building such things and they're still shite in appearance, structural design and construction quality it's really hard to justify. Especially when Germany/Japan etc... can get the same things done to a better standard in a tiny fraction of the time (I have NFI how the costs compare though).

It reeks of corruption and underworld/bikie influence.

So Victoria's big build apparently bled $15BILLION due to corruption. Including recruiting strippers for 6 figure salaries as "cleaners" so they could do shows in the site offices at the various build sites.

Does anyone in Melbourne remember Kittens carwash?

For those uninitiated it was a bunch of bimbos in bikinis probably paid minimum wage, doing a really crap job of washing your car and trying to look sexy. All whilst the customer sits aside and ogles them, and distracting traffic at a major intersection.

That does all looks very annoying... And not super surprising these days. Pointing at the LNP and noting they would have just engaged in different sorts of dodginess doesnt really help.

It was very rough. I used to drive in the right lane as the trucks hasnt sunk the pavement in that lane. Was markedly smoother.
 
So um, looks like Hardline at Maydena has run for the last time. This is from Maydena's Facebook page:

Next week we will be launching a new event where we have the creative freedom to bring new ideas and a fresh take on gravity mountain bike events to life.
For the past few months, we have been working on something new. A mountain bike event that is more of a revolution, than an evolution. This new event will bring World Champions, World Cup Winners, and Red Bull Hardline winners together on a course like no other, with a brand-new model for global mountain bike event broadcasting.

In some of the comments you can decipher that Hardline isn't in the plan. Speculate away folks; what could the new event it be?
-An enduro world series event?
-A downhill World Cup?
-Could it be Crankworx?
-Maybe a Fox Hunt style event?
-Maybe an invite event with a few categories for World Cup guys, former World Champions etc?

We'd love to see the scoop from @dirtart once the info drops ;)
 
Looking forward to hearing about what's next.

It's still a bummer Hardline is not comingh back though.

I think they might struggle to get the same world wide appeal, hype, riders and sponsorship money - but I hope I am wrong and they deliver something awesome.

Dont forget a foot balls training ground in Kingston as well. All while everything else is cut because "we dont have any money".... Neo natal facilities and domestic abuse support services most recent cuts. #priorities.
 
All we can say for now is that we’ve made a conscious decision to move in a new direction- don’t assume that this has anything to do with Red Bull or other organisations. It’s just time for something new. We’ve actually been working on this event for over 6 months. Full event release is out later this week.
