The final round of the RedAss Downhill State Series will be held at Awaba MTB Park near Newcastle this weekend. More than 120 racers are expected to take on the home track of the Hunter Mountainbike Alliance (HMBA), the hosting club of the event. Organisers from Rocky Trail said that the Awaba track is regarded as one of the toughest downhill tracks in NSW.

Major local contenders from Newcastle are last year’s RedAss Downhill State Series Winner Graeme Mudd in the Elite Men’s category as well as the current female series leader, Sarah Booth. Andrew Crimmins from Bredbo holds a firm grip on the 2013 Elite Men’s State Series lead and Sarah Booth is expected to claim the female overall win.

The talented young HMBA-rider Patrick Butler from Brunkerville is expected to take out the silver medal behind Harry Parsons from Mittagong in the U15 Junior category.
