On tuesday, So I thought I would celebrate with a ride. Only problemo is that my license expires the day of so without transportation im stuck with yt or Westgate (with my limited melbourne knowledge atm anyway)

Anyone heading out somewhere interesting for a trail ride on tuesday and doesnt mind a tag along?

Dude, if that was today, I'd be your huckleberry. But alas, it is not, and therefore I am not. Happy Birthday for tomorrow anyway man!
P.S. If you're really keen you can catch a train to little river station and ride a few k's on the road to get to the You Yangs...

Thanks huck! Also not too sure how to get to spots via train. If nobody can come could I get the downlow on where to go?

I'm no expert either, but I believe it's a v line train, from little river station you'll see a brown sign to you yangs. Take that road a few k's to the end, turn right, a few more k's, turn left, a couple more k's and you're ready to push up the hill!
When I really think about it, it's a bit of a slog.. Probably 8-10 k from the train

bullshit! 15km?! Fuck I must've done it too many times, feels half that! Haha oh well.. Did you enjoy the youies despite the obvious?

Following the 'signs' would take you left rather than right to the 'official' You Yangs park entrance, where you then have to ride a long way to anything resembling a hill. Going right towards Drysdale road is a good 5km shorter and gets you straight to the action.

^^ Thats what I meant, I just meant follow the sign from the train station as I don't know what that road is called, but at the end of it turn right and then left onto drysdale..

That's exactly what I did. Ah well was a great day nonetheless, I was just starting to get a bit annoyed after a 10-15km road ride on 2.3" tyres up avery slight hill as well.

Some wicked tracks out there. I loved the big bermy downhill that runs near the shuttle road. The dh track next to that reminded me to get a dh bike though

Yeah, "Cressy" (Track 13) is a lot of fun on a little bike. "Turbulence" (Track 10) most definitely needs a full-blown DH rig as there's some pretty big stuff if you want to go the A lines...

Track 7 (Travs) is also great and the other DH track (8, Bandages or Glory) can be ridden on a 6" bike if you've got decent forks and bullet-proof rims.

I wish I had rhe lungs and legs to get back up the hill a few more times but only managed 4 runs right off the top. Lapped the quarry track (I think?) A few times just to put off the long road ride out. I forgot to take food with me as well which was stupid and wont happen again

Im More then happy to give you a lift out there one day if you'd like, and im sure many others wouldnt mind goving you a lift either.
I usually get out once a weekend/week depending on the surf and ... Work.

stuff riding out there from the station!!!!!

Are you guys planning on heading out there tomorrow? I'm free from after 11, got zero plans, could be twisted into going for a cycle ride possibly...

Sawtell that'd be rad. I have mon/tues off next week. Feel like a spin?

Sigh, can't do this week on those days, im usually free later in the week Thurs/fri with other days flexible, just got a job pop up which I gotta get done!

Ill shoot ya a PM next time I'm heading out there.

I was there a few days ago and measured the distance from the station to the drysdale carpark. A lovly 8km each way I think. Haha makes a tiring ride back by the time you do a few runs.

She's be a little wet there tommorow I rekon.

8km there and back is fine. It's when you double the distance there that it sucks. Good walking trail down to that eagle thing though :p
