Looks like he'll be fine? He walked off the track holding a helmet and isn't really nurturing his shoulder. X-rays would have been cautionary. Bloody big crash to do that damage though!
Hopefully he hasn't done any damage.

Heard from a very reliable source that he has hurt his shoulder pretty bad. He is going to do his Quali tonight and just roll down and see if he can hold on enough, so that he can race and not loose to many points.

That sort of thing just makes me love mtbers that much more. If a footy player gets a bruise he gets carried off the field on a stretcher and stays off the field for weeks. Yet he's still goin at qualifying with ligament damage. Lots of respect.

Pffft, Specialised will kill him if he doesn't...

Pretty sure they wouldn't. If he is injured that bad, they would rather him not hurt himself more and risk him not being able to race the next few WC's. But its Sam, so he usually races after a crash

Sucks so bad for Sam, but he's tough as, and will bounce back.

I think Gee will win it too, or even Minnaar again

Sam Hill has damaged his shoulder ligaments, but not broken any bones. His going to qualify but start the run then pull over once he’s left the start gate and rest up for Sunday, since he’s a top 20 protected rider this should ensure he starts the finals just to try and salvage some points.

I dislocated my shoulder 8 months ago and it is still stuffed, it clicks and clunks and is still very unstable, from the day it happened to now as I'm typing this my shoulder still hurts, I need surgery for ligament damage but I can't afford it.

If I had the choice I wouldve prefered to break a bone for sure.

Mine was quite similar! Lucky for me I got surgery for it and it only took about 3-4 months to heal up.
Best of luck to you.

yeah i agree with kamakazii, i'd take a broken bone over a ligament.

does anyone know where on the track it was?

what time mark in the course walk? http://freecaster.tv/mtb/1012267/fox-racing-shox-course-walk-fort-william-dh-2010
I think somewhere near the drop at 6minutes - 6 minutes 10 seconds.
Says on the dirt site 'From the gondola I saw Hill slumped on the grass looking very shaken near the fast rocky drop/left hander a few corners up from the entry to the woods.' and that was about the most likely spot I could see watching the video that matches the description...
