Shimano/Sram 7 speed compatability

G'day, I just replaced the 7 speed cassette, chain and middle chainring on my commuter yesterday. On the ride to the station this morning, all was going well until the chain started skipping, just as if it was a worn out chain.
The cassette is sram, the chain is shimano, as is the chainring. I assumed that they would be compatible. Does anyone know if this is not the case. The actual parts are these:

Cheers

I cant see a problem with what you have done. Should all work.

Shimano 7 speed chains are ever so slighty wider than SRAM 7 speed chains. You wont get a SRAM powerlink to work with a Shimano 7 speed chain. From memory the difference is .2 of a mm and I dont think that would cause a problem.

I use Shimano 7 Speed chain on 8 speed cassettes and have never had a problem.

Are you having problems with the shifting? or is it just slipping. If you are having problems with shifting, the cable tension might need adjustment.

Only other suggestion is to look for a tight link in the chain.

Yeah I thought it should all work too. It feels like its the chain skipping over the teeth rather than skipping between gears. A tight link sounds like it might be the culprit though. I'll check it out tonight. Cheers for the advice.

I had a very expensive SRAM chain that had heaps of stiff links in it. The other thing I was thinking of that might have been causing the problem is that the chain was way too long and the rear derailleur could not take up all the slack. Heaps of info on the web on setting correct chain length.
