Single speeds

Alright, heres the deal, i love single speed on hardtails and have seen a lot of weird and wonderful ways to do it on both horizontal and vertical drop-out bikes.

What does everyone else use and what do you think is the best way to go for a conversion?

i just used the bottom half of a truvativ mk 2 chainguide to tension the chain, and the spacer method of putting a single cog on the hub.

i know a friend of mine runs his single speed
by using the spacer method for single cog on the back
he uses an old derailure (sp?) for the tension

if you dont want to use the spacer method you can by the
single cog conversion thing a its like $40 aus or something like that

I really really like that setup andrew. Looks so much neater than an old deraileur or a singulator style tensioner.

just get a dmr hub if you have the cash (then your wheel wont have any dish=heeeeaps stonger) and a huge moto chain..
or andrews method..

So does the DMR hub have some sort of eccentric axle in it or something? If so, that is the PERFECT solution (as far as I'm concerned).

No, it's just SS specific, takes a BMX freewheel rather than a MTB cassette.
