I know we keep asking but is there a reason for all the downtime?

Is there anything we can do to reduce it such as contributing to some hosting costs?

That's the usual response but how about the real reason?

A server upgrade that went awry? Lack of bandwidth due to server restrictions? Hosting company are a bunch of clowns?

Canola and superglue as a solution works well for both and is less hassle to store!

If I had needed to secure anything during the down time this knowledge would have been invaluable.
 
Every time the forum goes down, it feels as if big social has launched another attack on the final remnants of the old powers of the internet.
Forums all over were already dying / dead,, and surely all of the recent downtime isn't helping the situation.
I am interested to know how many 'regulars' on here have dwindled since the dropouts started.

Not an access issue but sometime in the last week or so all the functions at the top of the posting window went grey and now I can't use any of them...

OK I've worked it out. @fjohn860 you need to press the little brackets icon to the right hand side of the posting window (next to the little floppy disk) - that seems to enable and disable the formatting options.
