ACT Small/Med half decent MTB wanted in Canberra

Hi all, a friend of mine posted this today, so I'm sharing it around to see what might be available from the RB Canberry community.

I’m putting my feelers out to my mtb friends to see if you can assist us in finding a mtb for a 14 year old boy who has come from Ukraine with his mum who is in need of a decent mtb.

Particularly if you are aware of any juniors that are upgrading and have something that might be suitable (to gift or for a few hundred dollars). We think a hardtail might be best due to costs associated with servicing duallies and to keep it simple. He’s about my height at the moment but will grow, so he’d be good on a small at the moment but he could grow into a medium.

Husband went riding with him yesterday at Majura and he is riding an ancient hybrid bike with grip shifts. He’s here as a result of the war in Ukraine with his mum and they are doing it tough and we’d really like to help him get set up on something better than what he’s riding at the moment.

The recyclery (Gungaderra Homestead) is having a bike sale this Saturday. My brother will be running it and says he’ll give him a bike if there is something appropriate there (there usually would be). Will update if he finds something in the meantime

Thanks, she will see where she lands this weekend after checking out Recyclery, they have a few parts themselves and have donated plenty of stuff to Recylery in the past, good karma.
