hi all. my partner is looking to get a pair of shoes to suit both her mtb and roadie. shes still fairly fresh to riding and abit hesitant to try clip ins unless theres some sort of easy clip setup?

so what im actaully after is if anyone knows of any manufacturers that make shoes like a 510 in a 36euro (4 us) or even kids shoes. or are shoes like this ( http://www.wiggle.com.au/shimano-womens-wm83-spd-mountain-bike-shoes/) usuable on flat pedals.

thanks for any help

bonus points for anything with pink or purple or other girly things

I had this issue with my daughter and we ended up getting some Women's Specialised Cadette shoes as they were supposed to be good on flats but clipless ready and they had some girly colours. While they were ok with flats and better than the Dunlop volleys my daughter was using they were still not great compared to your 510 type sole when things got bumpy but had a more rigid sole which was good. Still it ended up making her convert to clipless after around a month.

Thanks for the replies. Good to hear some shoes are compatible both ways. The specialized might be the way to go. Just gotta order em.

One of her friends has the pink and black 510s in a 5 so she couldnt possibly buy the same shoes haha whatever. As long as she gets out and rides im happy

I've never understood this... I have a few friends that are always asking "hey asterope - where did you get that amazing top/jeans/shoes/jacket? Would you be upset if I bought (insert clothing item here)?"
and my answer is "why would I mind? Go ahead, its super comfy/would look awesome on you/none of my business what you wear"

Now if one of them went out and bought the same bike as mine... then we would have a problem :mmph:

onlock, remember there is Womens US sizing. From the charts I have seen a 36 Euro is a US 6 for women. Probably worth getting around to a bike shop to try some on and be 100% sure.

Specialized do a lot of half sizing, and the Womens 510 Freerider is available in a US 5 and up. This guide shows the sizes of MTB shoes for flats which you may find useful. If you're going the Specialized route, get to one of their shops, I imagine they're well stocked in all sizes.

+1 for women's 510's. I have the men's Freerider's and live in mine. Most comfy shoes I own. I also have Specialized Tahoe Womens but they give me pins and needles. If you find a decent pair of come back and let us know as I'm always on the lookout for a new pair, my Freerider's won't live forever.

ended up getting a pair of the specialized womens cadets in purpleee greenish. look pretty good and can be used with both flats and clip in.

tried the tahoe but she wasnt much of a fan of the fit

womens 510s were a good option but the only place in melbourne worth buying mtb stuff from is on the wrong side of town and they said a new shipment of 2016 shoes was a few weeks away.
