Snakes

Red bellied black you say?
There was a batch of Browns born somewhere close to our house, possibly even underneath.

So far the 3 month old kittens have brought two inside. Unfortunately one of the kittens copped a bite and has spent the last two nights at the vet, and it's still 50/50 whether he'll pull through.

Did you know cats make their own anti-venom? All the vet if really doing is helping his system flush it out.

Interesting you say that. In Cambodia both these critters got inside our house in a 48 hour period while we were away. Came home to both near front door in this state and a very dopey looking cat. I’m assuming it got tagged by one or the other. No real vets to speak of at that point so we just kept an eye on it and it came good next morning.

Hope your kitten comes through.

Hooo! That's a bit close for comfort! 😬

I was right over him before I seen him, video to follow. He was a bit docile thank fuck, given the fact he was about 1m long, he's been about a while, maybe older and wiser... though if I had been 100mm to the left, he wouldn't have been happy about being steam rolled :p

Came out of a trail, turned onto the road and was riding up about 200m before dropping down another trail, didn't see this fat danger noodle in the shadows  Got him on video as I forgot to stop the camera. Nearly rolled him.

I'd also just like to add that it's clearly the ebike's fault (again) :p

If you had been on an allmebike, ol' mate snek would've already crossed the road by the time you got near him/her.

Brownies want to avoid us even more that we want to avoid them.
Now, if they had ears, they could pass the info among themselves that they are the second most venomous snake on the planet and to fear not Irish dancers ;)
Ah but fair enough like, dem mad Irish bastards be clip-clopping and snek stompin' all over te'joint with dere tippity-tapping dancing and craic.

Also true. Could have seen it if not climbing at 20kph+. Danger noodle may have had time to feel my vibes approaching... SS Radials, another issue

I think the Irish have got them on the run already.

I have never seen a Conor McGregor vs. an Eastern Brown in a UFC match yet. Scared, they are......... They still must have some legendary stories floating around about those dark times when St Patrick gave the slithery ones a solid booting from the emerald lands.

I'd think that you are pretty safe due to ancestry alone. 🐍

I’m absent mindedly pushing up a track and notice this guy to the right of my front wheel doing his best to imitate a king cobra. I shat myself and literally dumped the bike(luckily not on the snake) and bolted ten meters in reverse possibly letting out a little screech of terror.
When I’d collected myself I walked back up and he’s still in the same spot with a ‘I’m going nowhere!’ Expression. Problem was he was now pretty much under my bike.
So I try a few sticks in his direction. Doesn’t care. Just getting more pissed off. Finally had to chuck a log in his general vicinity to really thunk the ground to get him to move.
And then boy did he take off quick!
I’ll have to check my max heart rate today. Bet you it’s off the charts.
