Snakes

View attachment 415159I’m absent mindedly pushing up a track and notice this guy to the right of my front wheel doing his best to imitate a king cobra. I shat myself and literally dumped the bike(luckily not on the snake) and bolted ten meters in reverse possibly letting out a little screech of terror.
When I’d collected myself I walked back up and he’s still in the same spot with a ‘I’m going nowhere!’ Expression. Problem was he was now pretty much under my bike.
So I try a few sticks in his direction. Doesn’t care. Just getting more pissed off. Finally had to chuck a log in his general vicinity to really thunk the ground to get him to move.
And then boy did he take off quick!
I’ll have to check my max heart rate today. Bet you it’s off the charts.
New shorts needed as well? He/she has a very angry face.

Big balls or a big zoom?

Found a dead Taipan under the table in the garden.

Took me a very long time to ascertain its membership to the afterlife, if it wasn't a paid member then I might have been fast tracked!

one of the world trail workers working at Warburton was actually bitten on the leg by a snake last week ,

Hes fine but I understand there was a bit of panic when it happened,

There is a lot of tiger snakes in warburton in summer , going to add a bit of interest to the park when its open , they can be a bit feisty

Met a little one at the side of the trail while out riding today. Only about 30cm long & quite thin. Unfortunately it nicked off into the scrub before I could get a good look, so not sure what type it was. Tigers and Copperheads are most common around here, so it could have been a youngster of one of them, but we also get White-Lipped Snakes, which are quite small, so could have been one of them.

So up at Falls and Mate has a hugey. Super lucky not to be a Medivac. Anyway as we’re collecting bits of helmet etc we notice this guy still writhing on the trail. Must have landed on it or something.
It kinda looks browny purple on top but red underneath. Pretty small.
Any ideas.

Maybe a Brown Tree Snake. Their coloration varies a lot which can make it hard to identify them.

I'm thinking maybe a white lipped snake.
