I've been using an old Scott Scale as my adventure / XC bike for 9 years, will never be without a HT in the stable for fast mild rides through the mountains. But as an alloy frame with some big K's on it was getting time to retire before it was forced anyhow.

So when the opportunity to grab this thing and swap most parts across came up, figured it was worth giving a go without going crazy with spending.

Very happy with the result. And out for its first ride today absolutely rips uphill as expected but also surprising stable coming down, though as first ride back from a broken hand no proper descending yet.

Will be used mostly as a hardcore gravelburn machine, which it seems will excel at.

It's no weight weenie with trail wheels and enduro stem/bars. So some possible gains to be had there in future.

Have now done 460km on this thing so I guess time for a ride report.

I thought I would only use this as my gravel bike, but has proven to be very competent and fun on single trail. And of course very efficient, its now the fastest bike I have around Lysterfield and Smith's Gully.
Even with a very high stack giving a nice comfortable upright riding position it handles very steep climbs very well without much front end wander or looping out.
Heading back down with the 120mm fork on, it gets the job done surprisingly well unless there are really rough sections that can overwhelm it. Frame seems reasonably compliant that takes out a lot of trail chatter. But I have found it to feel a little noodley if pushing harder.
All in all very glad its made its way into my stable and look forward to many more adventures on it.

Couple of the bigger rides done on it so far.

Up the back of Lake Mountain to Kepples hut.
