I originally found the reference on Google scholar in an academic paper (10 years old from memory) but couldn't quickly find it later when I posted a response.about 50km out of the known range, though it has been a warm wet summer so it's a possibility but I'd say still very unlikely.

Smuggled came up in a quick search and had quoted it pretty much word for word (with out acknowledging the source I might add). Have now had a closer look at that site and.... well yes...
None the less its quite an interesting snake actually and highly sought after by reptile keepers, leading to:
