The 2020 Orange Alpine 6 is Totally Overhauled - But Looks Exactly the Same

Now seriously, why aren't we using those?!! A suspension pivot has a limited range of motion anyway. They tick all the boxes!
Marketing...way back when suspension was new lots of bikes ran bushings in the pivots. There was mixed results as with bearings, but being able to put "sealed bearing pivots..." in your catalogue looked good.

I'd use thick piece of leather.

Imagine the marketing - this bike is made from beautiful bespoke Connolly hide, just like a Rolls Royce!

The colorway on this thing is so good, I kinda want one.

As for the bearings vs bushings thing, there's pros/cons to both. But since this is a Orange, which is a bit like the Rangerovers of bikes then bushings kinda suits it. Longevity and simplicity is the name of the game.

Who wants an Intense Primer frame? I want this thing

Oddjob

Merry fucking Xmas to you assholes
This is not turning out how I expected.

I was expecting Moorey to valiantly defend the Orange while everyone called it rude noisy things.

In other words, Moorey probably doesn't like this one. Too modern, wrong size wheels yadda yadda yadda...

I’d hit it, no question...but I’m kinda biased.
Not convinced about bushings after my last Rocky.

Ken oath. The bushings in my knolly are so sensitive to the bolt torque and to contamination. I plan to actively avoid bushing bikes in the future. Its about the only reason i haven't bought a new fugitive!

I can’t believe knolly use them still.

The new alpine is a thing of beauty...even by lofty orange standards.

has some good things to say
I'm unconvinced about beauty but the thing shouts 'purpose'.

As for bushings...I though you only used them when you couldn't always get the bearings to ever line up properly.

Down on the left!
I used to shudder when I saw an Orange but they have been growing on me of late.
That thing above looks amazing.
Orange bikes in my mind have gone from the cliched noisy filing cabinet to a piece of bicycle origami.
I watched a video recently of how they cut, fold and weld these up. I was enthralled.

Definitely should have gone to specsavers

How can you tell from a picture that this bike isn't noisy? And if it truly is the Range Rover of bikes, it will be spending more time in the bike stand than on the dirt...

Nah - I like it too. Those angular squared off ridges on the front triangle look pretty cool, and I'm surprised nobody has commented on the weld porn yet.

Great that it is DUB compatible too, that's a real bonus.

The vertical front side of that swingarm, is surely aimed at being a Union Jack?
