The exploitation by so called employment brokers makes my blood boil.. they are nothing but pimps.

Wonder how they are going.

When does the ship change course to Australia? Need some cheap stuff.

In all seriousness, this is just trade wars in disguise methinks.

I saw on another forum this bloke in the USA was trying to get a bosch battery for his ebike. Apparently if you can find one in the USA the price is just jaw dropping. He was then trying to get one from europe but no business would ship one to the USA.

In fairness it's pretty hard to get one here too. I managed to snag a range extender battery but it narrowly avoided customs (could have gone either way) and took a long time.

And this is the first the Muricans have heard of these allegations.... Riiiiight.

I would be in agreement with @Calvin27 . it seems like a bargaining leverage for trade, rather than anything else.
The article mentions Maxxis, Merida, and Shimano as being into that shit as well. We could assume that the whole of the bike industry that manufactures in asia would be doing these things.
It was only after an outside investigation that Shimano supposedly reimbursed its Malaysian factory workers $3000USD each, for the agent fees. (links in the article @beeb posted )

All the sneakers and bike shoes we wear, those would be made in southeast asian factories with cheap, expendable labor.
Nike (and others) were notorious for labour violations going way back.

According to the ethical clothing advocacy group Good On You, Nike is certified under the Fair Labor Association Workplace Code of Conduct. But a 2018 report by the Clean Clothes Campaign, found that Adidas and Nike still pay “poverty” wages to workers. The report called on both Nike and Adidas to commit to paying “living” wages (the amount of income needed to provide a decent standard of living) to its workers.
With an annual revenue of over $US30 billion it should be able to afford it.

The Foxconn factories that make the Apple iPhones... they are not exactly a workers' paradise.

Where was the care and concern from the Muricans for Foxconn employees?
At one point, Foxconn put nets around their factory buildings to try to prevent worker suicides.

The USA doesn't give a shit about what happens in the rest of the world so long as it benefits them...

Suddenly it's convenient for them to care about human rights but maybe they need to have a look in their own house.

The voting populace think it's a democracy but it's further from the truth.
Most muricans too busy engaged in culture wars to actually see the tree for the forest. I mean hello, rest of developed world has universal health care (albiet it's going to shit).

On a related note, I dunno how you could afford to MTB in the usa. The healthcare costs would cripple me. Broke my elbow ptty badly last year and that would have been about $300kUSD easily I rekon. Free in Aus.

Actually, the majority of the population couldn't give a shit for the culture wars. They just want a functioning economy and security for their family. A significant majority even want stronger gun laws. The matter that most Americans care about is the influence of networked/smart devices on children.

The generalisations, even about the US govt, which is hundreds of thousands in size, are a bit silly, TBH.

Just another thing to distract the MTB community from demanding the release of the Epstein files.

More than half voted for Trump, I'd say that qualifies. What they want and whether they get sucked into culture wars is not mutually exclusive.

The last 2 races will be interesting to see if the rumors are correct, what bikes the riders will be on.
