I suspect we are in a time of new learnings. I doubt that there is a rule that can be applied to determine to what degree muscle mass or strength is impacted by the change in hormones and one size fits all is unlikely to be satisfactory.

With regards to anything cerebral there is no issue. Women can well hold their own on that score.

With something physical where strength or muscle mass or stamina etc etc (I know nothing...) or any of the other things that the male frame and hormones provide and advantage for need to have clearly defined areas of doubt and uncertainty applied. Create a new category though then you could argue that women transitioning to men would be disadvantaged compared to men transitioning to women (see I told you I have no ideas).

Should we open this up as a new topic?
That's the proplem, you don't see women who transition into men lining up to compete. Seems you can drown a woman in testosterone and it still only turns her into a averagely strong man.
So far man can't defeat natures programing of men and women.

WTF?

Here is the difference between man and woman bench press record.
The male benches more than double the female record.
Absolutely guarantee you if he went on estrogen and she took truckloads of roids( almost definitely on them already) she would still have no hope of besting him.

To say otherwise is sheer stupidity

What relevance does the categories sports people have in their competitions have on any of this? Let the sporting codes sort their shit out. It isn't political and shouldn't be made to be.
What relevance, fuck me.
Maybe the fact it's only men wanting to complete against women, not women wanting to compete against men. I wonder why.
If you don't see that there is no point answering any of your questions

This is a politics thread, UCI doping rules aren't discussed here, neither are formula one sanctioned engine parameters. Why is the rules surrounding gender assignment in sporting relevant?

Your kidding right, sport has nothing to do politics. Since when.
You also said let the relevant sporting bodies make their rules. I think the actual supporters should have a say, without them the top grade sport makes no money, no sponsorship no nothing. I think they should have a major say.

You do realize that football has been pushing the "yes" perspective of the referendum, but not political I guess.

Good luck to them for pushing their view, does not seem to have cost them viewers, certainly political though

If it is relevant why hasn't the pm or other politicians been asked to comment on doping rules or scandals in cycling, weight lifting and other sports?

If you haven't clicked on I am trying to make you realise that certain groups are tying to fabricate outrage in the community and direct it at trans people and they are using sport as a battleground to divide people on trans rights. It isn't any more relevant to politics than different types of doping or just cheating in sport or similar.

Yeah but it's not just the hating groups that are pushing it. It's all about fairness in our society.
If you want to be what you want to be, fine.

But look at the difference in strength of the w people I posted, it's about reality not an idea

So why aren't other forms of cheating and loopholes in sports also deemed about "fairness in society" if it isn't about dividing people?

Totally different, drugs are totally different to

Because it's generally same sex cheating. Lance Armstrong cheated against other men, transgender cheat by competition against a sex that a biologically weaker physically. Just a fact, not my opinion.

The fact that you compare this to other forms of performance enhancement amazes me. Totally different.

I'm curious, how many competitive male athletes are having a sex change purely to get a win they can't against the blokes?

I think this is what you're saying yes? That men are transitioning purely to win at sport? That is extraordinary commitment to their training...

Because otherwise I imagine the Venn diagram of high-level athletes and people transitioning would not have a lot of overlap. Not enough to get so bent out of shape about it anyway.
