Probably a waste of time for me to even vote. The other parties are already defeated because nobody has even heard of their candidate.

Not a waste. If the candidate of the party you like gets a certain amount of votes in this election, they get a grant of funds or somesuch from the AEC to contest the next election, If I recall correctly. It can be about the medium to long term in politics, as well as just the now.
As long as you aren't voting LNP, One Nation or Jabba. :)

Not in the least bit surprising but there were a lot of better things to spend $20bn on.

Australia really needs to change how politics plays out. Attacking each other and supporting dud policies just to differentiate the parties from each other.

What a monumental fuck up.
Blind Freddy could've seen that the old copper network was only going to degrade to a point of being useless.
I still live in the suburb of a capital city within 10km from the CBD that doesn't have FTTP.

Early voted today .. lady in line was approached by a very friendly Victorian Socialist for a chat, lady listened but went on to say how it doesn't matter if libs or labor win as they all just do whatever they want anyway. The girl then explained that yes one of the big 2 will win, but you know if smaller parties get seats they can help influence decisions and perhaps then the big 2 can't do whatever they want yaddi yaddi yadda..."oh but I've always voted Labor, my daughter wants me to vote greens, but they aren't going to win so I'll probably just vote Labor again..."
The girl tried again, to instill some logic to her thought process but It seemed like a lost cause.

This is the braindead society we live in.

I like the idea of some balance but in reality the past independents have just sold their souls (perhaps oxymoron material) for something that will get them reelected back home...
