How is everyone feeling about the finding common ground with killing off 30% of the world's population? Hard mode, you can't use the adjectives of "warm" or "fuzzy".

Pretty sure the vote basically said Australia is all for that being done in the long run by not addressing climate change. Maybe we can just trust that everyone will be as responsible as you Zaf and we can get by?

I'd never presume that any of us should be able to choose who should live or die - a natural disaster is at best geographically discriminatory, unless someone attaches a thruster to Eros, paints "fuck you Bieber" on it in big letters and shoots it toward wherever that fuckwit is on the planet, preferably when he's touring Washington DC or his favourite sperm bank.

As for your answer! I'm sorry, I did mention earlier that as the lone vocal conservative, the conversations and topics rattle past pretty quickly and it's a struggle to keep up. That question was two pages back already, and we were already on to how to kill of two billion people.



Put simply, you just have to engage people and just discuss it with them. Not batter them with how you're right and they're awful, selfish idiots for not thinking like you. As I've said plenty of times, the political liberals lost the ability to discuss issues and really hammered the identity politics, and then when the conservatives caught up to that game...well you see what Trump's like when that game gets played back.

It's not as easy as it sounds, because everyone's so adverse to getting upset these days, and it's all about safe spaces, and micro-aggressions. It's easier to dismiss someone and say they're a racist, homophobic, planet hating, fascist, kitten punching Nazi OR a jobless, weed smoking, hand out wanting, freeloading, waste of space hippie (I should say that when I throw out anything overtly offensive like that, I'm usually doing it ironically, because I respect you guys for putting up with me...except for @moorey, but then I do it in a text so he knows it's coming from the heart). I'm personally not adverse to a bit of a heated discussion, I like the stakes to be a bit higher so there's a real realisation when the truth beams through or when a compromise is met.

When the opening bid is that the person is amoral and wrong, no meaningful discussion is ever going to take place. It's not about rebranding what the Climate Crisis is (that's Greta's rebranding, not mine), it's about making sure the message actually gets delivered. I think people as a general rule want what's good for the planet, but you've got a hard working population that everyone is screaming at is privileged and selfish, and nobody is feeling like that's the case. Try and keep in mind that humans, in general, have trouble conceptualising really big and really small numbers.

Try and remember Hanlon's Razor as well, that one helps me a bit.
I also put a rubber band around my wrist when things are getting a little more stressful and snap it think "at least I'm not in Syria".
They're more my coping tools, but they help me, so you never know, might just be worth putting out there.
