How?! How the fuck is that even possible?!
The entire Witcher 3 PC install is 65GB and that includes and entire, varied sandbox sized world, expansion packs, voiced dialogue, 4k textures, etc.
I'd safely say it's asset count would be on a whole other level compared to a MP only FPS that is personified by it's tighter, closer maps.

Yeah they have done well there. Maybe the developers get paid per gigabyte. 18GB in about 50 minutes so I’m going well so far. Might be able to play it tonight before having too many beers

New Path of Exile league is really good I'm hearing.
I did a silly mistake and re-installed Age of Conan, to see what it's like. Been a year since I last played, logged in and the guild remembers me and were inviting me along to their Tier 5 and 6 raids immediately. Got a really nostalgic sadness playing the game though. The community has died off a bit, and the guild had moved over to a PvE server after the population dwindled a little over a year ago.

But I noticed what it really was that did it, and it's going to essentially fall under the "go away you filthy casual" style of comment. Something AoC did really well was the challenge of it; like the Dark Souls of MMO's in that all the gear in the world wouldn't save you if you didn't "git gud". The endgame stuff was difficult, and progressing through it was challenging and required you to know how to play your class (and others as well) to get through it, because you needed to focus on the strategy of the fight and your role within it to get through.
These days, even on a PvE server, most people only run the easiest dungeons on repeat, and given the new Raid Finder option (which just does pick up group and drops you into a nerfed instance that gives token rewards), people are able to get Tier 4 gear with little to no skill or effort other than the persistence to grind.

I just find it really disappointing. When the expansion Rise of the Godslayer was released in 2010, it added the Tier 4 raid and the majority of the max level dungeons (about 15 new instances across five zones) we had a group of about 10 of us (that all played our classes and got along really well) and were working on figuring out all these fights. Today only three of these (the easiest) get run, people are unfamiliar with the tactics of the other dungeons and unwilling to learn.

The eternal struggle of having something that's accessible, and having something that's engaging.

Still, if you're a frother for the Conan universe stuff, the game realizes Robert E Howard's world beautifully. Even a decade later, the music, writing and atmosphere of moving through the world is epic (in the traditional and well deserved sense of the word). And the RPG elements actually hold up for an MMO, with the main Destiny Quest being specific to the class archetype, and tying in beautifully with the novels. In fact the main story line that you follow in the expansion is based on the aftermath of Conan's actions in The Tower of the Elephant novel.

TL;DR just look at the pictures, I'm ranting again.

Just installed last night, it was 8gb in all for the update, so I'm glad I did it before I wanted to play.

All ready for tomorrow night!

the first bit is a little tedious - i'd suggest you create a save as soon as you get through it, i did not but i'd like to have so i can play through the game again as a full cunt without having to do that start bit.

been getting back into planetside 2 but it stutters way too much and idk why. I played it years ago and it didn't stutter this much.

people say it's because my ram is filling but it isn't or that cpu is getting over used which cpu usage doesn't go above 70 percent.

I can play other new games fine but not ps2 and idk. ive reduced the resolution, resolution scale, draw distance, set everything to low, put smoothing and vsync on but nothing.

Any ideas? I'm kinda lost here.

Question for the games brains trust: 12yo son has some credit on Steam (on PC) and has previously made some pisspoor choices in games that have ended up been underwhelming. He's into things like Borderlands, and some the animal 'simulator' style of games (eg. sharks, dinosaurs etc.) - think levelling up, better guns/abilities etc.

Any recommendations for commercial or indie titles on Steam that might suit? Cheers.

Ark? I haven’t played it but it sounds right up his alley. Ride dinosaurs, shoot things...... awesome

Just a heads up on Ark, it's a survival game, and it doesn't do server wipes.
So the big guys who are established are going to just rofl'stomp your kid every time he goes to set up somewhere. If you guys were worried about how Conan Exiles was sounding brutal, even the PvP servers on Conan rarely have a "kill on site" attitude. Ark and Rust are notorious for "everyone you meet will kill you" style of gameplay. Ark is like Rust with less shit talking, but make no mistakes, he better be okay with losing everything constantly and having to fight his arse of to make progress.

I'd say if he likes Borderlands, give Path of Exile a go. Less guns, but it's classic "loot'em'up" with some great progression in the skill tree. Also they just started a new league, and it's Free to Play, and then you can spend money on some extras if you like it. But zero risk from that perspective, and although it might start slow, by the end you'll be charging around maps getting FAT LEWT!!! In no time and just caster spunk everywhere!

Video for the latest league.
For reference, it's kind of the spiritual successor to Diablo 2, after Diablo 3 went to My Little Pony edition.

This is a good tip. I just played 2 hours worth to finish the first chapter. I don't want to go through all that again and I created a save point so I could skip it at a later stage.
