The QUICK question thread.....

Hambo suggests 225/65 17 or 225/60 18 or 225/40 21. 40 pissies is too high for a 65 profile and 1.6t frogmobile. I reckon 30 though is too low and 35 ish should be the sweet spot. Ish.

Depends how shitty the tyres are... and size/profile.

Often they overinflate because the end user will never check or care.
I'm just going by the

Cheers man, I usually go 34ish so am happy for the confirmation. Cheers

Retape the rim. The valve nut has never worked to stop leaking air on its own, for me . Do the soapy water test on the base of the valve first to see if that's the issue. I like to test the air tightness of the wheel by fitting the tyre with no sealant, pump it up to 50 psi leave it overnight and check the pressure in the morning. If it doesn't lose.pressure sans sealant I call it good and chuck some sealant in by opening the bead. Never via the valve, it's too slow and I hate it when the valve gets çlogged
This is one of the genuine reasons I prefer Schrader. Can easily get sealant into the tyre with a tube on the syringe without unseating the bead again. And topping up sealant is easier for the same reason.

I used to be pretty free with an 8.5 mm drill bit ‘converting’ Presta rims to Schrader but don’t do it anymore. Never had a rim crack at the valve hole or any other adverse effects but am running carbon rims now and err on the side of caution. Opening the bead is easy enough that I don’t mind doing it.

Instead of a total retape. Just try retaping the valve area, say 50mm either side, and ensure that you cut a nice hole that fits snuggly around the valve. You can actually get presta valves that have removable cores (better yet replaceable too). I use valve caps that double as a core wrench.

Don’t tell anyone, but I couldn’t bring myself to drill my new DT rims so I’m running cut off presta with a Schrader valve screwed on over the top.

Google have signed me up for their new AI assistant...Google Gemini. Other than using Gmail, Chrome, Android phone, and Google for searching I'm not really into technology. Their introductory email is unclear about how to just not sign up for this stuff...

- do I want it? I don't think so, but maybe I'm wrong?

- can I opt out? How?

- help me! I've run out of foil.

It's like the ads for Apple Intelligence - so fucking what? I just want to check the weather, use Strava, look at the web and listen to podcasts/music.

The fit depends entirely on the shape of your head. The Koroyd takes the place of some of the EPS so I can't see it adding too much heat.

I've had a couple of Dispatches which fit me fine. I didn't use them on the bike though so I don't have experience of what they breathe like when you're working hard.
