The QUICK question thread.....

Recommend me a bank. Time for a new home loan from someone that is not shit.
Requirements: redraw, extra repayments, no fees, 6% ish

Seems okay: https://www.qudosbank.com.au/
Also seems okay but took too long last time: https://www.hsbc.com.au/
We’re with Credit Union SA now and been really happy. Broker got us a deal that was a fair bit better than their standard offerings (and last chat was better than anything else he could get for us at the moment).

Ok, finally going to turn everything tubeless after many flats recently.
Is a cheapo compressor from super cheap adequate or should I just go to the servo to seat tyres.
I have no use for a compressor apart from this. Suggestions please

Bit late on this one.

I've been with Qudos Bank from back in the day when they were the Qantas Credit Union. They have been good.

EDIT: Just read the home loan bit. Have had a home loan with them for the last few years. As with anything like a loan over time the rate has snuck up a bit (7.49% now I think). Need to ring them and as for a discount methinks.

Cheers man, I had given that thought but assumingd you would need some special attachments. Shall try this arvo if a park pump come apart.
What I have found with tyres that are a loose fit on the rim is this tyre inflation hack allows you to have 2 hands on the tyre to be able to push the tread towards the rim which pushes the tyre bead out towards the edges of the rim.

2 trips around the rim with tubeless tape usually negates any loose tyre bead issues.

All tubeless tyres I have set up (even though I am not tubeless I've set up quite a few) have been done with a furious floor pump action or late at night at the servo (close to my house). Servo works fine, you get plenty of wierd looks, lean into it and make it wierd.

7.49 sounds very high, you should be able to do a lot better than that

Yep, has been a set and forget issue on our behalf. Definitely going to switch, or at the very least start with demanding a better rate.

EDIT: I do believe part of that higher rate is because it is a "Qantas points home loan"

Depends on your LVR, but I’d ring them and say you’ve spoken to a mortgage broker who is offering in the very low six percentage region , and what will they do about it.

If they ask what bank it’s with just refuse to go with their distraction technique and go on about loyal customer, x many years blah blah.

Should get results.

(Qantas points sounds like a bad thing which probably sounds nice in theory but won’t get you much in practice but I could be wrong)

Yeah that will be pretty much what I'll do.

Rate was good back when we got it in 2018 (4% IIRC), but yeah taking the piss now. Speaking to a mate the other day and he is with Commbank at 6%

Unless your LVR is high (which at a guess I'd doubt), your rate should be low to mid 6's. In this case, if you're shopping at Q-mart, you're paying too much!

As per some of my other posts, I have destroyed my elbow. Recovery looks to be at least another 2 months before I can start hitting the trails.

Anyway, I am finally able to get back onto the stationary trainer. Nothing special just a dumb trainer with a cheap road bike on it. Question is should I even bother getting an app? Is it worth it with just a dumb trainer (+ maybe a speed sensor?). I'm thinking fullgaz, but not sure if it's going to give me an actual workout (no resistance and I can slack). Rght now I'm just doing intervals.

Best grease for headset bearings?
Been using Maxima Waterproof grease. Smells funny but works well - stays put and doesn’t wash out - using on headset, Bb/cranks and seat post. Have also used weldtite teflon grease in the past and that worked well.
