The Steel Spur

I used some Galfer green things on my Cura 4s, they were shit. The material literally fell off the backing plate, and I'm old, slow and 70kg
Rear or front caliper? I've never used them on the rear, and had no failures on the front using hope v4, shimano xt, and code patterns. The power and heat profiles are massively different for front and rear brakes though, and I'd always used different compounds for the rear before I played with those brakeace sensors. Saying that, I'd rather use brobike for half the price, and trickstuff, radic, or sinter for about the same on the front brake.

No correct guesses

What is it?

This isn't going to be a popular opinion but I feel like you've traded in the endgame bike, for a heavier, less efficient single pivot.

PS I know I'm biased, but I also own a Cotic Rocket so I'm not immune to the appeal of steel is real, and simple suspension systems.

I think the advantages will outweighs trade offs but well see. Simplicity, durability and low maintenance is is quite high on my list.

The Mega pedals really well so this should in the ball park. Will play around with cog sizes for different levels of support.

Interested to hear real-world thoughts on the Effigear once you've had a bit of time on it. Frame looks awesome!

Fair enough. Will be interested to hear the long term feedback. I still miss my Avanti D8 and wish I had snapped up that BMW Racelink.

Pinkbike didn’t rate how it climbed and also pop poo’ed tje Effigear but that’s their opinion ;), interested to hear your thoughts after some time on it. Looks awesome.

Liking the rig for sure! That's a nice bit of kit. Interesting that they went for the original Effigear box.

What are they quoting for time frame wise on oil changes? Any other maintenance needed for it?

Good to see I'm not the only one pedaling around a 19+ kg gearbox monster! 🤪
Box was noisy for the first lap before the oil got around.
Do you think this will be an every ride thing or just as the box wears in?

There is no doubt a heavier bike feels better and more planted down hill but will be interested to how it feels pedalling up at 20kg.
