After forever
This got stolen yesterday when cunts broke into our house when we were away.
I didn't have it listed specifically on my policy so I'm expecting RACQ will say tough luck here's $2k for it.
Gutted.

Oh shit no. Bad luck. This got stolen yesterday when cunts broke into our house when we were away.

NRMA home contents have unlimited watches can be claimed - to agreed value, and no individual listing req'd. That's what I have. But lately my watch purchases have been above that value, so I need to review.
<insert slew of highly offensive language> That's absolutely f***ed mate. Probably end up pawned at the local Crime Converters for $300.Going through the claims process now but I have to accept that I'll get back $2k max for that watch. It's RRP is now $13.7k.
Yes I still have all that.<insert slew of highly offensive language> That's absolutely f***ed mate. Probably end up pawned at the local Crime Converters for $300.
I think I might have a look at my policy as well. It's got a pretty ambiguous "agreed value of contents of x plus bikes" but I'll bet I've fallen in the same pit you have.
Do you still have the box / certificates for it etc?
Surely all that would make it a pita to sell on? Don't know much about the theft market but I would've thought that having it flagged with no papers would force the seller to flog it so cheaply that most buyers would either assume it's stolen or fake?Yes I still have all that.
I called the shop I bought it from (Hourglass Brisbane) and they are sending me a proof of ownership and will notify IWC of the serial number in case it turns up later.
The cunts knew what they were looking at, I had a replica Omega in my office and they left that. But they also stole a Tissot that I got for my 21st (far out that is nearly 25 years ago) and that was buried back in a drawer as I had nearly forgotten about it. They took Prada and Tiffany sunnies but left the Ray Bans. Also took a whole heap of jewelry including stuff that was handed down to my wife, stuff that's pretty much impossible to put a value on. Pretty much anything they could fit into pillow cases and was valuable. And who really gets regular valuations on their stuff?Surely all that would make it a pita to sell on? Don't know much about the theft market but I would've thought that having it flagged with no papers would force the seller to flog it so cheaply that most buyers would either assume it's stolen or fake?
Keep an eye out on eBay and Chrono24 as well. They both require you to log the serial number to sell. It's a watch that I wear every day, so I never bothered specifying it on my policy as the chances of it getting swiped are extremely low.
Of course, on the morning I had to go to site, I grabbed another watch that I use as my 'site' watch and put the IWC on my bedside table.

It's probably on the wrist of one of the fucking scumbags that broke in. Neighbours CCTV caught them, they were wearing gloves and hoodies/balaclavas. Been looking at Chrono24, Ebay and Marketplace. Fuck I hope he gets anal cancer or something.Surely all that would make it a pita to sell on? Theory is they panicked when they realised they were being tracked by my wife’s new EV (she was on the phone to police telling them exactly where the car was) so dumped the car and fled. One was caught.
So in essence my wife’s new car fucked them up. So satisfying.
Did I miss the bit where your wife’s EV got stolen too?
Granted it's a strange nickname for a car but who are we to judge.Pretty much anything they could fit into pillow cases and was valuable.
Wait. Port Adelaide is no longer the badlands?Good outcome. Don't be in any hurry to get car back as it is automatic write off if you don't have it for 14 days.
Po Po got a bit of a stiffy when they realised our stolen car had an air tag in it. The thieves eventually found that and ditched it, but Mercedes have tracking built in. They had to call the dealer to access it and ended up tracking it through the badlands before being dumped in Port Adelaide after 3 days. Astounds me they can track and watch but still failed to apprehend. Even have the fuckers on TV from a servo drive off and bottle shop robbery they did in it. One was a 14 y.o with 200 offences to his name.
