Thredbo 2018/19

I missed the new link at the bottom of the Am track, given the top of the AM track was closed and the slog it was to start the bit that was open I just stuck to the flow trail and had a dabble on the DH track.

Had the top been open I would have alternated the AM track with the Flow.
Home run or whatever it is is a much better return than the old return, or via the road.
They've done a fair bit of work to the AM track as well. Some good, some bland-ish.
Bit chilly up there at the moment!

@climberman I enjoyed the mix of tech and flow without the scares of the DH track that the AM track provided.

The flow track was insane. So fast, so berm, so jumpy, so flowy.

Riding my regular tracks after Thredbo is weird, kinda like coming back to East Coast Australia after a Bali surf trip.

Yeah things were in pretty good nick.

There is a new track in construction from the top of gunbarrel chair back to the Flow, as an easy/green flow trail. Rumour/word is that they will run GB more this year in peak/busy periods. See 'number 11' below :)

Rather than start a new thread, is anyone off to the Cannonball this weekend? Or at present there now?
Two main questions, how is the Saturday for events and is the whip wars worth viewing?
Coming from Canberra but can only do the Saturday so limits what is on offer.

Heya team,
So have Thredbo regulars noticed a change in the chairlift policy? If i remember correctly (and I could be mistaken) you used to be able to buy, say a 5 day chairlift pass and use those days across the entire season. Now the wording reads “5 DAY LIFT PASS
Includes: 5 day MTB lift access, valid for 5 consecutive days from selected start date.”
I just bought a 5 days pass thinking that I’ll use 2 days this weekend and the rest later in the season. Hope they do refunds :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Yes mate you are correct they have changed it. Fucking stupid in my opinion. I hope they give you the cash back but I'm guessing I know the answer. Good luck.

Just came back from thredbo and yes they have changed their policy for chair lift purchases. I left with a day remaining on my pass and blew $75 bucks. Don't bother buying multi-day passes. After 5 years of going to thredbo for aus-day weekend they wont be seeing me or my mates again. Plenty of other good places to ride without being ripped off.

They have just had the DA approved for a new gondola to Merritt’s side of the mountain, probably trying to roll in more $$$ but I hope it gets sorted. That’s a scummy change to make.

Had plenty of fun there on Sunday, then the boy broke his arm on the last few turns of the Flow track :(
Poor bugger, was going well, on the +1's Bronson as a loaner too! (Bronson is fine :) )

Many thanks to the Thredbo first aid crew Jo and Davo, and the Doc, who patched him up, fed him painkillers and got him x-rayed and in a cast as quick as could be.

Also many thanks to the guy who helpfully grabbed our bikes off the track so I could concentrate on the lad!

Conditions were sick as well, Monday was shaping up to be killer.

Well 1000m of vertical descending over 70km is coming: Thredbo to Jindabyne.

https://www.lanternapartments.com.au/2017/03/23/70km-epic-mountain-bike-riding-one-track/

It says here that it'll be finished this year, but I think that's out of date and completion is slated for next summer.

I'm pretty bloody excited personally, if anyone knows more detail chime in!
Some more details on this link:

Dirt Art are doing the work, although I notice they are no longer doing the trails at the resort, which is apparently now to be done in house.

And Thredbo are putting in a gondola so as not to scratch our precious bikes on the way up.
