So, does he think that foreign countries are going to pay the US to run the country instead of the citizens?

Sounds like what I hear from a lot of people that complain about paying taxes but fail to understand that without them everything the government does, wouldn't happen. Sure, our taxes could often be spent more wisely of efficiently but regardless the was society is setup, that's just how things work.

Oh for sure, it just makes imported goods more expensive for the country that is imposing the tariffs. Sure, it can change how corporations look at offshoring their labour, but this takes years to change. An American company can't just shut down production and move it back to the US overnight. It takes years of planning to do this and it's extremely expensive to do. Also, unless they drop the US wages even lower than they already are the US made products will be more expensive anyway, so the American consumer will lose out when tariffs are in place for a certain product, and then they will continue to lose out when it finally becomes made in the US.
