Tube and CO2 for races

I've always done the usual tape a tube to the seatpost and have a CO2 in the back pocket, or tapped to the post too.

Now being on a 29er, obviously the average 16g cannister wont cut it.

Gennuine Innovations make 2 cartriges that fit the bill:

-25g "Niner" -http://www.genuineinnovations.com/co2-refills/25-gram-co2-threaded-cartridge-display-box-of-15.html
-40g "Big Air" (propane?) - http://www.genuineinnovations.com/co2-refills/big-air-40-gram-propane-1-pack-with-hang-tab.html

I've seen the Big Air one being used by a lot of racers, both 26 and 29. I've seen Big Air's hanging off a lot of seat posts on the world cup XC level.

-Another pic, this time Willow? http://www.mijnalbum.be/GroteFoto-OIYZYGPJ.jpg
-Last one, on a Fisher 29er - http://www.mijnalbum.be/GroteFoto-PBPUTNXX.jpg

Anyone had any experiences with either?

Second point. I've got one 29er tube, and yeah its clearly not a race style tube - shes a beefcake, massive, reminds me of a DH tube. Anyway is it common for people to just carry lightweight 26 inch tubes with them in races and just stretch it around the rim in the case of a flat? Failing that can anyone recommend lightweight racery 29er tubes?

can't comment on hairspray but 26 inch lightweight tubes work fine on a 29er.

Cyclocross tubes work fine as light race tubes. We used a set of schwalbe 700C x43 tubes, (SV19A), with Maxxis Aspen 2.2 tyres for a three hour enduro a couple of weeks ago with no problems, easy to obtain, easy to fit, and weigh 145g

The 40gm cartridges actually weigh a fair bit less than the 25gm ones - the metal is thinner so from a WW POV then they are the gee ohh...

I've successfully used a standard 26in tube as a spare for a Racing Ralph 2.4 so would suggest that as a solution rather than carrying a full on 29er tube. Didn't have great results personally using a CX tube on 2.25's, they get a bit thin when pumped up to that volume.

Silly questions, but where in Sydney would I find one of those genuine innovations 40 gram big air bottles?

I have had minimal lucky using 2 16g ones to pump up a tyre at a recent event.....

Same, i've been sing 40gram canisters for some time. Lighter and more convenient come pump up time.

If you want any bigger carry a Soda Stream cylinder!

Inner City Cycles in Glebe have them... also you can sometimes get them from Cell Bikes.

I found some place on the net and got them delivered last time I needed them...
