Bought the Smokey and Bandit DVD set last year. Loved them again. I remember as a kid in Canada we watched Smokey and the Bandit about 3 years in a row as our Christmas holidays break up movie at school. We got to vote on 1 of 2 movies. Don't even remember the second choice...

Swagger didn’t come much larger.

Sheesh - how many of that cast are no longer around...

Burt, Roger, Farrah, Dom, Dean, Sammy, Mel - all gone.

Burt was true "leading man" material back in his day - tall, dark & handsome, that big mustache; someone who inspired a lot of up and coming actors in his prime. And as moorey said a couple of posts back, he was probably a fun guy to work with on set. With Burt's passing another remnant of my youth does too! Gonna be gutted when Clint leaves us.

He was the man's man for the thinking woman. A big kid who just got better with age. I reckon it was Smokey and the Bandit that fuelled my desire to build cars and be a rebel!

Like Bond movies, they've got to be watched as a bubble in time and appreciated for what they were

I watched Hooper as a kid (prolly 100 times in a couple of years) before any of the Smokey movies. Much preferred it then, and kinda scared to watch it now after 30 years break.
Deliverance stands the test of time, 100%.
