Hey guys,
if i can get some help and rider support and track support, would be keen on some vets/masters only dh racing?
On tracks that are suitable etc?

Yeah it would be nice to see some (slightly) more relaxed races for us older dudes... You could talk to Mike at Apollo Bay, that would be a good venue.

This is something that I would be interested in (especially around NSW) and could probably convince a half dozen other like minded chronologically gifted individuals.
Not sure if there is anything I can offer in the way of admin or track assistance but if you have a specific list of tasks once the ball is rolling than let me know.

Regards,
Michael.

Yes it sounds good.

To be honest though I question why it would be necessary. I'm 41 and have raced DH/4X a fair bit. A club race round is hardly big pressure, and you just have to ignore the grommets and enjoy your own riding. Sometimes the younger guys are actually an excellent help, and certainly a motivator to lift my riding to a new level.

Yeah i agree.

Not sure what you mean by suitable tracks.Shuttles maybe and not push as we are old and the bikes are heavy.I think if you want older guys to come back do a social with a bbq and a few runs.Just remember its not bass fishing.

10 years ago i would have told you to HTFU, but after having 6 full years off the bike, the tracks are looking a little daunting and the fellow racers a little intimidating. I'd love to do a couple of seniors social races to get back in the groove. I used to be heavily into the track building and event planning of clubMUD events in ballarat, and would happily chip in to get a day planned if there's enough interest. :clap2:

Weird, I was just talking with some mates about this very concept on the weekend up in Sydney. It's definately something I'd like to be part of. Let me know if you need a hand in putting something together retro, pm me if you want.

Fast Vets

Problem with this is that there are alot of very fast vets in Vic. There's a number of fast Masters too!:single_eye:

Been racing Masters for a few years now in Qld & must say although 2010 was a good year for me personally, there was only really 3 to 4 Masters racing which was disappointing, so next year i'm going to race Vets as there is simply more numbers, doesn't matter about the level, just ride your own race, in the end nobody really cares as we are all old! Just have fun!

Need more older racers

Well, maybe the Vic club rounds are the place to be for those vets/masters who like similar company. For those who still compete in DH catagory, the risks taken at this age can be greatly increased indeed,as all will who compete intensely will be surely aware of.The greater the gathering of alike means the better the comraderie.

The vic state series not only has a large gathering of "old people", but they also vary in ability & skill. The top end of the field is competitive and & us mere mortals at the back are enjoying the ride. The majority of riders don't have trouble with any tracks so I think we already have what your looking for...

True. Although I also think the standard of riding in Vets varies more dramatically than any other category. Would like to see a Vets A & B type scenario so that less experienced riders could participate without the pressure of fast guys breathing down their necks and faster guys could punch out a race run knowing they weren't going to have to slow down for a caught rider, which happens pretty regularly.

Boo Hoo. In the NSW State series racing order/number plates go off the year befores results. That meens the faster guys start first without fear of catching the slower blokes.

Its very relaxed racing in Vets at the State races. People should have a go at club level first and then give the State races ago!

Why boohoo? I'm not having a cry abut it mate. Just think there are options that make more sense (as demonstrated in your NSW state series).
