Yikes...the prospect of riding 22mm tubs on a carbon wheel and frame combination that weighs so little would fill me with dread given the road conditions around here. Let alone with the prospect of parting with $16K for the privilege.
It's not for riding. It's for driving around on your roof racks on your Audi.
15k for a Trek, no thanks! I would sooner drop my cash on a DeRosa, or Cipollini RB1000.
Put it this way:i'd happily own it however. at the end of a day it's an ultra light bike, be it a trek or fancy pants italian branded.
Put it this way:
People will happily pay $400k+ for a Ferrari.
Would anyone pay $400k for a Dodge or Chevy? No I don't see it.
please. if you could buy a $400k holden then they would all be owned by FIFO workers in WA.
there's a bit more to it than just the badge though. that's like comparing any old trek to any pinarello or similar.
people will buy a lowly nissan gtr over a porsche or similar as it gives it a pants-ing... much like the 4.6kg trek would probably out climb a similar priced italian. or then there are backyard cars like Gumpert that get buyers too..

Can someone please explain to me the justification for that price tag?
As for the GTR Why wouldnt you buy one? Its a car you can build for a fraction of the price but will destoy most super cares that cost millions.
4.65kg sounds great. But like others, buggered if I would ever lay down $16k on a Trek.
These people know whats up!15k for a Trek, no thanks! I would sooner drop my cash on a DeRosa, or Cipollini RB1000.
