It took many failed attempts to get them to seal up tubeless, in the end I think it may have been a ghetto setup from a sacrificial 26" tube that did the job. Could go as low as 5psi before things got precarious.
The rim tape used to flutter like a liquid fart when the pressure dropped below 15 psi. Tried new liners and everything giving up was easy.

Met another Burner today at the YYs when I caught up with @Litenbror for a pedal. Was a long time coming with quite a few failed attempts over the last couple of months. Last ride of daylight savings until spring for me.
Youies was damp, with some quite sandy corners but it was a good day for a ride and mostly grip-city.
Back on the wagon wheels too.

Finally got a little bit of rain in Hobart last week, so its not a dust fest on the trails. A glorious day with sun and a bit of cool, would have been rude to not get it out. A bit of XC work out at Meehan on the Trance. This sharp right switchback still beating me.... It looks tame, but there is a little step up right in an inconvenient place.

There is also a tree down on a climb that will be used tomorrow if not ahuttling, what a pain it is to lodge a fix my street issue like you would a pothole. I miss the days of calling a trail crew to fit it.

Old and hopeless
The last few days, it has been all about riding with old mates… emphasis on old.
Had a nice Thursday lunchtime ride with a mate who was staying over for a few nights. He’s been living in London for nearly twenty years, and is on vacation, so there was much chin wagging over a few reds over a few nights. I convinced him to come for a ride, and he’s an ex motorcycle racer, so he settled in right away and loved it.
Then today, another mate dropped in, and he rides pushies on rail trails, etc. Sue suggested we capitalize on having two cars by leaving his car at sea level… i.e. the beach and shuttling the three bikes to Red Hill in our car. He rode my Kona and did well with the fairly gnarly roots and tight trees. And he loved it too. I’d never ridden that trail on the Stumpy and it was sort of springy, flexy and fun… the pine needles were sublime.
